I can't believe what I've seen. It's truly horrific, some of the videos are so graphic. Standing with LFC fans tonight. #YNWA

It's more likely how MNetters think of football fans, if there is a connection.

I don't think that's true tbh.

It is a very sad situation but considering all the threads got pulled last night, I don't think we can comment much.

When this happened though what did the police do? Did they see a car tailgate?

Don't think you understand the geography

@PinkfluffypencilcaseI don’t know, I wasn’t there. I watched the police press conference earlier on and these are the details the BBC are reporting https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn5xnlkegz0t

Thank God nobody was killed 🙏

The lack of responses on this thread show how you middle class lot think of scousers and Liverpool. Clear as day.

Utterly crap. Get rid of that chip on your shoulder

When I was 21 I was in a car being driven by a casual friend. She clipped a stationary car when setting off and the guy whose car it was happened to be nearby, ran towards us and started hammering on the car. She set off (slowly) even though at this point he was clinging on to the bonnet. He fell/jumped off and she carried on driving. I’ll never know quite why she reacted like that, but I think in the moment she felt under attack and freaked out. It was reported to the police but I don’t think it was prosecuted because I was never asked to give a statement even though my details were given to the police.

I have no sympathy for the driver in this case but I wonder if there’s a chance that, under the influence of drugs and essentially feeling under siege, he was trying to get away. If his primary aim was to hurt people I think he would have done even more damage.

minnienono · 27/05/2025 17:16

The threads last night contained links to footage that hadn’t been cleared for public release and pure speculation, worst of all people stated the police deliberately let cars through because they didn’t care about Liverpool fan safety. All untrue

like most people I was horrified at the events unfolding and immediately considered in my mind that it could be a case similar to those in Germany etc - however it’s proven that you need to wait for the authorities to investigate, the details released today by police paints a very different sort of situation. Let the police investigate and the criminal justice system prosecute, getting a fair trial so they can make it stick, online activity can jeopardise trials

I think it was shocking, and I think many do really care. There were a couple of threads that got pulled, tried to post but they were gone.

NotDarkGothicMama · 29/05/2025 19:37

The man charged seems so normal: dad who walks his dog with his boys. What on earth leads someone like that to do something like this?

Yes, exactly. They DO care. The threads keep being deleted.

What do you mean? He hasn’t been charged with any drugs related offenses.

crumblingschools · 29/05/2025 21:34

Although they mentioned drugs at the start he’s not been charged with any drug driving offences

Originally he was, the police had him for driving under the influence of drugs and attempted murder, now miraculously they have been dropped in favour of much lesser crimes with much lesser sentences.

Verite1 · 29/05/2025 21:45

Re the initial drugs charge, I am sure if tests had come back positive, he would have been charged. He has still been charged with other very serious offenses. Who knows what caused him to act as he did. I don’t think it’s a good idea to speculate about drugs though since it’s now going to trial.

It's not miraculous if they now have the results of tests and found no drugs in his system is it? Surely thats what you'd expect. I'm not sure what you're implying
