But how would a tariff on a foreign produced movie work?

LA is already suffering from Studio/Streaming cut backs, the strikes, the fires and other cities and locations in the US giving tax breaks to companies to film there.

Plus it's never just one production company involved - so which is he going to tax? The finance part, the production part, the distribution part, the special effects part, the actors etc etc etc??

But not good news for the UK film industry either 😡

I also think the films aspect will be complicated especially where there are co-productions between companies from different countries.
And there are so many suppliers involved in production, from catering to building.

I really think Trump is just throwing 'big' ideas around to confuse everyone and keep people busy with thinking about these potential complications whilst he gets on with goodness knows what.

It’s outrageous and frightening that we have to take this all seriously, His emphasis on what is important in the world is so completely wrong, it doesn’t immediately occur to me that he can be serious with each new move he makes, and then it turns out he is and my jaw gets closer to the floor.

I know this is not a new idea but it is the only thing that makes sense to me, since I struggle with the “again” concept about America made being great, if you see what I mean: MAGA actually is MAWA but for some reason they can’t quite say it out loud. Like “Reform” is really “Regress (to the days of slavery and Empire)”.

An old convent-school friend of mine (amongst many others, I’m sure) thinks his reposting of that picture of himself as Pope is not only blasphemous, but a sign that Trump is senile and that America is in moral decline. I agree with that, but I don’t see the worldwide moral outrage I would have expected in answer to it, and I think he’s going to get away with it, and sadly, someone is his image rather than a follower of Pope Francis, will be the next Pope. Indeed, where is that “crying in despair” emoji?

It's not difficult. Films "the party" doesn't like will now be able to be tariffed at 100%, whilst "approved" films will be waved through.
