What have you used ChatGPT for lately?

I’ve used it to-

Do a colour analysis based on a selfie. I’m a cool winter, apparently.

Calculated my BMI, TDEE, and create a diet plan to help me lose 8kgs.

Calculate the calories I burned on a walk based on the distance, speed, and the terrain (I don’t have a smart watch).

I constantly use it to look for discount codes if I’m shopping online. So far, it’s been 100% successful for everything from clothing to car rental sites abroad.

I’ve also been playing around a bit with the new photo generation capability but haven’t found it great. I asked it to create a headshot I could use for LinkedIn and it made me look like a much older woman of a different race.

Any recommendations for thing you get it to do?

As a therapist 😂

You can tell it all kinds of crazy stuff and it is so kind and validating.

And it can do up a plan or step by step approach to a problem.

THIS! I’ve been non stop thinking about something lately and told chat GBT and she made me feel great after 😂 free therapy!

redgingerbread · 18/04/2025 21:54

I don’t use it. I’m worried about the way people are blindly trusting the information it spits out, but more than that I’m horrified that Meta has stolen thousands and thousands of copyright works to train its model. Then there’s the environmental impact (and yes, I know I’m writing this on a phone and cluttering up the internet in the process, but not to such a dramatic extent).

lollydolly987 · 18/04/2025 21:54

Used it for creating image ideas to redesign my garden. Really impressive!

TheWayTheLightFalls · 18/04/2025 21:55

To draft grant applications for me. So far it’s raised around £4,000 and a xylophone.

Colapolar · 18/04/2025 21:55

To meal plan for my annoyingly restrictive diet and tell me what ingredients to buy and to help formulate what I’m going to say on phone calls, have a disability and basically having a script spat out for me is life changing.

Glitchymn1 · 18/04/2025 21:56

Absolutely nothing, scares the heck out of me. Too much black mirror - common people for my liking. 😆

TheFTrain · 18/04/2025 21:56

I asked it to help get a landing page on my website to the top of Google search. I asked Deep Seek the same and I've got to say Deep Seek was much more detailed.

I asked it to change my cat into a human and make her look cute, tired, middle aged and Russian. It wierdly made the cat look quite a lot like me.

This. How do you use it?

I'm another who has no idea. Is it on a website?
I can't imagine what I'd use it for tbh.

gamerchick · 18/04/2025 21:57

burntoutnurse · 18/04/2025 21:16

I’ve never used it… what am I missing?

Me neither.

ButtermilkYellow · 18/04/2025 22:01

Got it to plan a 3 day itinerary for a trip to Prague, making sure it was suitable for someone with limited mobility.

Asked it for funny names for my brothers new shrimp and snails 😂

Asked it for colour wheels to go with specific colours I have in my living room and bedrooms.

It’s an app with a chatbot. So you just type a question eg ‘I’m going for a weekend in Paris make me plan’ and it’ll immediately come back with an answer

You can also show it images

DaysofHoney · 18/04/2025 22:01

It made me bespoke Easter egg hunt clues, age appropriate, and even thought to reverse the order of clues for one child so they aren’t looking in the same spot at the same time.

I LOVE Chat.

I've been using it to trial paint colours in rooms. I can reference the exact brand and colour I want and tell it which walls, what decor items to add etc. Much better than the visualisers on some sites. Really helps my husband when I'm trying to explain my vision and he doesn't get it!

Is this the ordinary chat GPT? Because mine seems to struggle with any images

FannyBawz · 18/04/2025 22:04
  • Keto diet plan
  • gsce revision timetable
  • blepharoplasty to predict how much better I’d look hahaha
WhineAndWine1 · 18/04/2025 22:11

I used it for literally everything. I would be lost without, my use or non use has zero impact on the energy used.

podge29 · 18/04/2025 22:15

I like to ask it to write me random poems about a variety of subjects.

SoloSofa24 · 18/04/2025 22:15

I won't use it on principle, due to the environmental impact, in the same way that I have never and will never order anything from Shein, Temu and the like.

I have also seen enough of the complete nonsense ChatGpt and other AIs produce not to trust it to produce reliable information.

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that.

AI has an environmental problem. Here’s what the world can do about that.

The sprawling data centres that house AI servers churn out toxic electronic waste and are voracious consumers of electricity, which in most places is still produced from fossil fuels.

LegalAlienated · 18/04/2025 22:15

Blimey… it uses 10x as much energy as a google search.

Some of these used are just plain stupid waste of time and resources for… what?

I’ve used it for some assignment questions but the answers are mostly crap and generic and utterly bullshitty.

I just tried this. My world is shattered right now and I opened my heart. She was so kind and validating. Made me cry. Thanks for the idea.

WhineAndWine1 · 18/04/2025 22:18

@SoloSofa24do you suffer from altitude sickness when you are in your high horse?

Deargodletitgo · 18/04/2025 22:18

Today used it to suggest dip recipes to make with spur cream, asked for advice about forex trading strategies, asked it to draft an email reply. Usual stuff. It's very useful, and it has a name and I've personalized how it interacts with me.

StartingAgainFGS · 18/04/2025 22:22

I was getting overwhelmed trying to keep on top of house stuff and it made me a weekly planner.
I also asked it for a packing list the last time I went away, hadn't been abroad for years and my mind had gone blank!

Hastentoadd · 18/04/2025 22:24

ErrPods · 18/04/2025 21:27

I uploaded a selfie for my colour analysis and it told me I was beautiful and had lovely clear skin 🤣

It’s always so polite and reasonable, that’s one of the things I like about it, I told it off once for giving me incorrect information and it apologised 😂

recipientofraspberries · 18/04/2025 22:24

PLEASE for the love of god, do some research into how much resources AI requires to do one solitary single prompt. The research is easy to find and understand with a quick google search.

I'm not trying to be mean but having just been reading about the unbelievable amount of water and energy required to answer ONE QUESTION on chatgpt, seeing the, sorry to be blunt, utter frivolity that people use AI for is actually sending me into a bit of despair. Our planet can't take this.

PartyGoose · 18/04/2025 22:27

They're right though [shrug]

Not their fault you don't like it!
