I just think if he’s ever released he won’t be the same person. You can’t go through that without significant mental trauma at the very least.

The White House has kicked global wire services Reuters and Bloomberg out of the permanent press pool. Trump isn’t keen on scrutiny.

Being cynical, it would be great PR for Canada to give him asylum. And a great FU to Trump.

Being kind, it would be a lovely sign of Canada trying to be the moral 'leader' of the free world as Carney seems to want. America has epically failed at being that for decades.

But I wonder if he will survive. 'Cruel and unusual' are just words now. Along with the rest of the Constitution.

That was part of my thinking, too. Along with emphasizing that the US is no longer the 'shining city on the hill' that people should be rushing to immigrate to and other countries should emulate. In truth, we are now quite the opposite of that.

The few Republican Town Halls actually going ahead are not going well. People are angry.
