Hopefully so @Parsley1234

The lies and self congratulatory nonsense that have been emanating from Starmer and co is probably pissing a fair few off.

Parsley1234 · 23/04/2025 10:39

@EasternStandard such lies upon lies upon lies

Upstartled · 23/04/2025 10:51

There's actually quite a bit of divergence between the polls about how parties are doing and, given that you'd give a three percent leeway on accuracy, it's usually too close to call.

Find out now does have results that have enough sunlight between parties that extends beyond that window. They have Reform on 28% and Labour on 22%.

Most of the councils up for grabs are Tory controlled, though, so it is a fight between Tories and Reform rather than an opportunity to give Labour a kicking. If Reform take a lot of Tory seats, Badenoch will be very vulnerable. Perhaps that is why Jenrick is being vocal right now.

I would like to see Reform take control of a council or two. Let's see how they perform in power.

The Runcorn by-election is the important one for Labour. If, as is looking likely, Reform win it will be interesting to see how Labour deals with that result.

Parsley1234 · 23/04/2025 11:15

@PandoraSox thank you for that explanation it’s so bloody complicated isn’t it ? The new boundaries Labour are concocting are going to make things harder to get them out God I hate Starmer

Are you the same Pandorasox that we all know and love, just changed with an extra X?

Yes, Labour doesn't have many council seats up in this round at all. What I'm interested in is whether reform are simply a protest party who people will vote for in a g.e. knowing that there isn't a chance in hell that they'll deliver more than a handful of MPs or if people will vote for them knowing that they'll be responsible for things in their locality.

Also, and I think we chatted about this months ago, if people who normally vote Labour will stomach voting Conservative to keep out reform.

Me too.

But wasn’t 2021 a particular high point for Conservatives in local elections?

We hadn’t had partygate yet I don’t think? So Johnson was still polling pretty well.

Much higher than Starmer after his 8 months. Badenoch won’t have the same cut through now as Johnson, but I’m not sure anyone would get the same high point rn.

Upstartled · 23/04/2025 11:22

Oh, sharp eyes Nuthatch. Maybe we haven't chatted about it before 😁

I am. If I wanted to pretend to be someone new I would have used a completely different user name. Previous account deleted.

Sometimes trolls will co-opt a name of a trusted poster with a discreet letter change and trash their name.

Ok, just checking. I've had someone copy my username with a slight difference a few years ago.

Yes, it happened to me so I watch out for it now.

Borrowed 15bn more than expected? 😬 Brace for incoming.

TheNuthatch · 23/04/2025 11:46

Oops indeed!
Someone needs to take the credit card away from Reeves......again!

OP posts:
EasternStandard · 23/04/2025 11:54

I get the feeling Starmer likes to brief out what will Reeves do lines and the media pick it up as he doesn’t want to be accountable.

He is though. They both would be.

I get the sense he’s anti women on multiple fronts too.

TheNuthatch · 23/04/2025 13:21

Pmqs was very bad tempered today. Kemi B rightly putting Starmer through the wringer over the sup court ruling. He was squirming and rattled. She actually told him he didn't have the balls. KB also tried to get an apology out of him for Rosie Duffield. It wasn't forthcoming.

It was also clear that Labour's line for the local elections will be 'vote Reform, get the tories' after the Robert Jenrick recording. They really are desperate.

OP posts:
EasternStandard · 23/04/2025 16:18

He’s so shit. Arrogant, bullying, lying and rattled.

I don’t know how he gets Labour on here posting about how great he is.

I’ll add utterly repugnant too.

TheNuthatch · 23/04/2025 17:12

Starmer seemed totally obsessed with Farage today. He kept mentioning the member for Clacton, on repeat. Like he was trying to squeeze it into every answer.

Farage didn't even need to ask a question, he already had all the attention on him. He just sat there smiling, lapping it all up.

There's definitely a whiff of man-crush going on. It's bizarre.
Labour and their supporters on here are obsessed with Nigel. They're like rabid dogs whenever his name is mentioned.
