Thurmond's was an actual filibuster on 28 August 1957 to stop the Senate voting on the CRA 1957. Despite him, it was passed and signed into law on 9 Sep 1957.

Wasn’t this part of the issue with the planes that took off that they were refusing to provide info on? That nobody outside the administration knew who the hell was on those planes and it could easily have been people they knew weren’t connected to Venezuelan gangs.
