Trump, as out of control as a faulty Tesla, takes an ICE pick to the Constitution.

Thanks to @AcrossthePond55 and @Jaichangecentfoisdenom for the thread title and sub-title 😊

Maybe she'll suddenly remember she's allergic to dogs (and cats).

Greenland to Trump: No, we didn’t invite you.

Pipaluk Lynge, a senior Greenlandic member of parliament who chairs the island’s foreign and security policy committee, told POLITICO that Trump’s claims that Greenland had invited the delegation were “not true.”

She added that a protest was planned for Vance’s arrival in the town of Sisimiut, following two other demonstrations in recent weeks against Trump’s stated desire to take control of Greenland.
“We are protesting politically [as] the people of Greenland,” she said.

“Administration officials said President Trump was frustrated by the episode, and was directing his ire at Waltz. But it wasn’t immediately clear if he would move to oust his national-security adviser, the officials said.”

I doubt anyone's head will be rolling over this. Trump and his charming press secretary will continue to attack and discredit the messenger, bigly up the success of the operation and the bravery of all those idiots involved (particularly for texting/working on a Saturday and not spending time with their Stepford wives and children) and possibly mutter something about securing lines of communication going forward.

Also cue Elmo sticking his oar in with some pointless Xweets - if he hasn't already, that is.

I can only begin to imagine if something like this happened during the Biden administration. Why are there different protocols and rules for republicans than democrats

Spandauer · 25/03/2025 09:11

Currently sounding like if anyone goes it will be Waltz.

Waltz’s future in doubt following accidental war plan leak.

... Nothing is decided yet, and White House officials cautioned that President Donald Trump would ultimately make the decision over the next day or two as he watches coverage of the embarrassing episode.

...“Half of them saying he’s never going to survive or shouldn’t survive,” said the official, who like others was granted anonymity to discuss internal deliberation. And two high-level White House aides have floated the idea that Waltz should resign in order to prevent the president from being put in a “bad position.”

... A person close to the White House was even more blunt: “Everyone in the White House can agree on one thing: Mike Waltz is a fucking idiot.”

I truly hate Putin but he wouldn’t put up with this level of incompetence within his administration. If this had happened in Russia the culprits would shortly have an appointment with a high window.

Very much so!!

Hegseth was ridiculous almost screaming into the camera 'we didn't discuss war in a group chat!!!' No mate, you really did, and everybody can see it!

He's one of the weirdest of them all!

DuncinToffee · 25/03/2025 09:16

Witkoff was in Moscow when participating in that group chat, he was meeting Putin on 13th March.

The risks of phones being bugged are huge. I remember Rory Stewart talking about diplomats going to meetings in (I think) the Middle East/China and having to hand over their phones for “security reasons”. When they got them back they were found to be crammed full of spyware.

God only knows how compromised they could be.

I can't imagine it matters all that much because Trump and co will just give them any information they want anyway.

Honestly, the breadth and depth of the incompetence, the lying, the grift, the hypocrisy is both completely unsurprising and simultaneously shocking. My dog (who isn't the brightest bulb) could do better.

Somehow adding a random journalist to a secure group chat seems the least of the concerns from this. More concerning are definitely the way they’re talking about “allies” and their use of 🔥 👊 🇺🇸 emojis! 🤢

I imagine what they said about Europe in that chat is just the tip of the iceberg. They are flexing their muscles and willy waving in excitement at denigrating all their allies.

Listening to Pod Save America this morning. They make a good point as to who they meant to add when Goldberg was added by mistake and the fact that (presumably) he was added via autocorrect means he must have been a regular contact in the first place.

White House press secretary tries to play down security breach as she attacks journalist

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, has been reacting to the leak in the past few minutes on X.

She claims the journalist who was mistakenly added to the Signal chat - Jeffrey Goldberg - is "well-known for his sensationalist spin".

She adds: "Here are the facts about his latest story:
"1. No "war plans" were discussed.

"2. No classified material was sent to the thread.

"3. The White House Counsel's Office has provided guidance on a number of different platforms for President Trump's top officials to communicate as safely and efficiently as possible.

"As the National Security Council stated, the White House is looking into how Goldberg's number was inadvertently added to the thread.

"Thanks to the strong and decisive leadership of President Trump, and everyone in the group, the Houthi strikes were successful and effective.

"Terrorists were killed and that's what matters most to President Trump."

Despite her claims, a US government memo suggested earlier today Signal was not an approved chat service for officials.

And you may well draw your own conclusions about whether "war plans" were discussed.

Spandauer · 25/03/2025 13:19

Script as predicted- Leavitt never fails to disappoint.

Goldberg should threaten suggest that if nothing untoward was disclosed then it's OK for him to publish all the texts/info from the Signal thread.

It’s the blatant lies that still get me, we can literally all see with our own eyes what was discussed and still she’s up there like the good little lap dog arguing that the sky is green.

No wonder she posted the lies on X rather than facing the carefully selected press

Agreed!

I was just reading that Trump has no public engagements today and will be signing executive orders behind closed doors. What a fucking coward.

My take,
1 bollocks
2 more bollocks
3 yes, but ignored.

"Thanks to the strong and decisive leadership of President Trump, and everyone in the group, the Houthi strikes were successful and effective"

Nothing shouts weak and pathetic leadership more than the adoring acolytes constantly reaffirming their adoration of said leader by repeating rubbish at every opportunity.
