How close is your closest IKEA?

My nearest IKEA is 45 minutes away (on a good day).

A product was out of stock and I was looking for alternative stores and I was surprised at how few stores they actually have.

I just had a quick search on Google maps and it is only 22.2 miles away. Funny though, because I thought it was further than that - it takes a good 45 minutes to get there on a good day.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 18/03/2025 14:41

About 25 minutes away.

hereismydog · 18/03/2025 14:45

90 mins drive on a good day.

My sister has just bought her first ever home so I signed up for the obligatory IKEA trip as she doesn’t drive. One of us is very excited about it, and it isn’t her Grin

TheBewleySisters · 18/03/2025 14:46

A 20 minute drive to the ferry, a 20 minute ferry crossing, then an hour's drive.

EarlofShrewsbury · 18/03/2025 14:46

I should have mentioned its 45 minutes but can be over an hour as it's in Warrington which has shite traffic depending on the time of day.

It's 40 miles away up the motorway.

There are rumours that they are building one a ten minute drive away and I'm excited. That's why I got the idea for the thread.

On the outskirts of our town, so about a 15min drive on a good day. It's also easily accessible by bus which means teenage DS and his mates like to go there for a mooch around and plate of meatballs.

TobaccoFlower · 18/03/2025 14:58

If I had one 10 mins away I'd go for the cheap meal deal every week. They do a discounted meal each week. I had a salmon one which was lovely.

jjeoreo · 18/03/2025 15:01

Used to live 15 mins away, dangerous, now 35. My special treat when I had a day to myself was a nip over for a browse and some meatballs.

AmusedBouched · 18/03/2025 14:07

Mine is a 5 minute walk 😂 quicker to get meatballs than it is to go to the supermarket 😂

Oh, I would LOVE this.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/03/2025 15:04

About 20 minutes along the motorway. Which reminds me I haven’t been for a while…Maybe time for a visit 🤣

OurSis · 18/03/2025 15:05

Close enough that DH once left me there and drove home with a full car as it was the only way we could fit everything in.
Far enough that I was bored stiff waiting for him to come back for me. I never dreamt I’d be sick of IKEA, it’s where I asked to go for my 17th birthday treat!

Whereabouts, as I am thinking we are close considering your name?

WingsofRain · 18/03/2025 15:14

Two hours each way, it’s a big day out if we go there!

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 18/03/2025 15:16

30 minutes on a good day, 90 in weekend traffic

Hopu · 18/03/2025 15:41

Over 80 miles away. Annoyingly, they have a big warehouse only 40 miles away.

I'm nowhere near really, the name comes from my love of Alton Towers (mainly the building and it's history rather than the theme park).

I'm near Chester.

About an hour and 20 minutes drive!

TianasBayou · 18/03/2025 16:07

About 40 mins to Southampton. I prefer Croydon but Southampton’s cafe has the best views over the water. Although Wembley has a cool view of the stadium arch too.

Me too! Double bed frame and mattress, a large chest of drawers and a bedside table in a Seat Ibiza is my record.

My dd 21 moved out to her new flat last summer, 7th floor. She ordered a new big bed and mattress from Ikea, as we wouldn’t have been able to carry her old bed up all that way.

It was extremely hot outside, and it took the 2 guys a very very long time to carry the bed up. She could hear them swearing. Eventually they made it, but were sweating so much. She then saw that one of them was a boy from her old school who hadn’t been very nice to her (or anyone). She is the nicest girl ever, but said she couldn’t help smiling when she offered him an ice cold coca cola.

chalkiegirl · 18/03/2025 17:55

Two and a half hours away! I know, how do I cope!

WonkyDonkeyWonkeyDonkey · 18/03/2025 18:14

I live a seven minute walk/two minute drive from IKEA.

Poonu · 18/03/2025 18:16

Depends where you live. I've got two in opposite directions 20 and 30 mins

MrsWaltonGoggins · 18/03/2025 18:21

About an hour.

MajorCarolDanvers · 18/03/2025 18:29

30 minutes.
