I think in some ways I'm more concerned about Vance than Trump. Trump is a chaotic malignant narcissist, for sale to anyone who flatters or pays him. Vance is a zealot with massive financial backing who's behaving like someone who doesn't feel he needs to worry about whether or not the electorate likes him.

He wants the US to abandon plans to develop their own semi conductor manufacture, but in the meantime the bottle neck of semiconductor manufacture, the absolute reason why say there were worldwide shortages of games consoles last year , is based in Taiwan, which he has also indicated he's not interested in defending.

There's a fab Misha Glenny radio /podcast on semiconductors and how absolutely vital they are in everything. It really is the equivalent of the nuclear button for Taiwan keeping China at bay from invading. If they do they'll trash their industry as an act of scorched earth to stop the red army getting hold of it.

Remember that all Trump cares about is Trump. Everything else, including US interests (in fact especially US interests) is subservient to that mission.

Well, His Orangeness is not going to be happy about today's stock market results is he?

For someone who is all about the headlines he (and his mates) is not going to appreciate the markets dropping again.

I know I sound like a broken (very paranoid) record, but this is my biggest fear. They're not governing like an administration that has any interest in what the voters or the general public or the international community thinks of them. They are governing like an administration that believes they won't be in a position again of having to justify themselves to the electorate.
