When do you eat your pancakes on pancake day?

Do you have them for breakfast or desert?

We usually have them for breakfast before school but DP suggested we eat them for dinner this year which seems wrong to me 😂

Dinner time here, I don't have time in the morning

AnotherHappyCamper · 03/03/2025 18:17

We will have them for breakfast.

whosaidtha · 03/03/2025 18:17

Breakfast and dinner. The shop bought buttermilk ones for breakfast. Traditional ones for tea.

We always had them for dinner (not as dessert, as the meal).

WonderingWanda · 03/03/2025 18:18

We have them for dinner...there is no other dinner on pancake day. I will make the kids eat one with a savoury topping first before the sugary muck though.

Charcadet · 03/03/2025 18:19

Pudding but also have savoury for supper prior.

YeGodsandLittleFishies · 03/03/2025 18:19

After dinner, we all leave at different times in the morning so don’t all eat breakfast together

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/03/2025 18:20

I might go full hog, and have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

GrumpySparkler · 03/03/2025 18:20

Breakfast, lunch and dinner here 🥞🥞🥞

This. They take ages to do enough for everyone (and I need time for a few disasters!)

EdithStourton · 03/03/2025 18:22

If I was feeling particularly kind on Shrove Tuesday, the DC would get pancakes for breakfast and again in the evening.

I used to make leeks and ham in cheese sauce as a main course pancake filling, and they could have whatever they wanted on pancakes-as-pudding.

Me too!!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 03/03/2025 18:23

Wow I'm surprised how many people have them for dinner!

Maybe I should unclench and give it a go😂

We always have pancakes after a light dinner, which is usually just hot dogs. I make up the crepe batter the night before and everybody queues up with their plates 😂 my favourite is lemon or orange and sugar, but will partake in a Nutella one or two.

hopeishere · 03/03/2025 18:23

Dinner. As dessert essentially!

Sanch1 · 03/03/2025 18:25

Dinner. Just pancakes. Lots of them!

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 03/03/2025 18:25

Holy crepe, also going full on! American for breakfast, then potato pancakes with various toppings for dinner, and crepes for dessert - yum!

Duffybearblue · 03/03/2025 18:26

We have them for dinner, we only have pancakes, but we do have quite a few each.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/03/2025 18:28

Dinner time. No time in the morning. Plus the fact they seem to take every damn pan and utensil in the kitchen and make it look like a bomb has gone off.

wildthingsinthenight · 03/03/2025 18:28

Growing up we always had them at dinner time after having a sausage and onion cob (roll/bap/barm)🙂
Like a pudding I suppose.
Have lovely memories of my sister and I queuing up with out plates while mum cooked pancake after pancake .
This was the late 70s/80s so they were the thin crepe type not thick American ones

GottaGetOutofDairy · 03/03/2025 18:28

Dinner time, for pudding!

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 03/03/2025 18:29

I just have pancakes for dinner so 6/7pm

ExtraDecluttering · 03/03/2025 18:29

After dinner as pudding, takes too long in the morning and I don’t like to feel rushed as that’s a sure fire way to mess up, plus it takes a while to do enough for all of us. I like mine with golden syrup. The DCs love tossing them.

notacooldad · 03/03/2025 18:30

At teatime time.

Nannyfannybanny · 03/03/2025 18:30

I've only ever heard of Americans eating them at breakfast. Here's, instead of evening meal.
