When do you eat your pancakes on pancake day?

Do you have them for breakfast or desert?

We usually have them for breakfast before school but DP suggested we eat them for dinner this year which seems wrong to me 😂

Breakfast and dinner.
But Breakfast we have ready made for speed.

GroovyChick87 · 03/03/2025 18:31

Dinner time as the meal itself. I don't eat pancakes but husband and kids have them for tea. They have a load each with various toppings ( sweet not savoury).

reluctantbrit · 03/03/2025 18:33

Always for dinner. No time in the morning and they are for us a full meal, not dessert.

This year DD will get one at home and one at her Explorer group later the evening.

We have them for tea here.

Big pile with strawberries, syrup, blueberries, Nutella & biscoff spread

OlgaFjeldso · 03/03/2025 18:37

In the evening, savoury toppings
like ham, cheese, mushrooms, spinach and egg first, then chocolate spread, honey, jam or lemon and sugar.

BeyondMyWits · 03/03/2025 18:40

Dinner here... chicken, ham and leek for the omnivores. Cauliflower cheese for the veggies. Filling rolled inside, topped with cheese and baked in the oven.

Then a couple more each with lemon juice (from a plastic lemon... but now they have a flat base... not the same, how dare they!) and sugar.

Breakfast usually,
But if we're in a rush we might have them for dinner, they will still be sweet though as none of us like the idea of savoury pancakes.

SoundedCat · 03/03/2025 19:23

We have them for tea. For the main meal. They're not allowed to be savoury! Toppings are combinations of sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, nutella, or syrup. DH keeps making them untill we're full.
We eat healthy the rest of the year!

RaraRachael · 03/03/2025 19:24

As pudding, after dinner

ThePoshUns · 03/03/2025 19:25

As dessert after dinner

Wow I'm surprised how many people have them for dinner!

Maybe I should unclench and give it a go😂

Really? Most people are probably going to work and/or dropping kids off at school. No time for morning pancakes unless they are ready-made ones!

chattyness · 03/03/2025 19:29

Tomorrow we're having them as dessert with homemade banana ice cream, sliced bananas strawberries & honey. This way I won't have to make very many as although I like eating them, I really hate making them

Ellepff · 03/03/2025 19:31

For dinner, some with cheese, some with lemon and sugar, some with jam or syrup. We do the American style for weekend breakfast and the English or Quebecois type for pancake day.

CeeJay81 · 03/03/2025 19:43

After school here cause I'm working at 7am tomorrow.

Elpheba · 03/03/2025 19:48

Breakfast and dinner! Sometimes if I’m home I’d have them for lunch too but office day tomorrow so twice will have to suffice.

Pineapplewaves · 03/03/2025 19:49

After dinner for dessert.

TheChosenTwo · 03/03/2025 19:50

Breakfast and pudding.
Ds will be eating his early tomorrow morning but I’m leaving for work at 7:30 and it’s been a tradition to have pancakes for breakfast since the first dc was born 20 years ago and I’m not breaking it now!

jjeoreo · 03/03/2025 21:13

For pudding after dinner. We are getting a jar of Nutella in which makes this a very big deal

popandchoc · 03/03/2025 21:22

Savoury for dinner and sweet for desert.

pizzaHeart · 03/03/2025 21:26

Dinner. We love them with cheese, ham and avocado.

AdoraBell · 03/03/2025 21:27

Usually desert.

3rdtimeinflorida · 03/03/2025 21:27

Have them just as a dinner which one of my daughter’s friends couldn’t get her head around.
There is no way I’m making a meal and then starting on with pancakes midweek! So we just eat them until we are full and feel slightly guilty for all the Nutella, golden syrup etc consumed, but we only do this once a year!

DonnaSueWeloveyou · 03/03/2025 21:31

Is Shrove Tuesday tomorrow?! 😱

Usually it’s the evening. I love a good pancake 😋

Ferrazzuoli · 03/03/2025 21:33

We have them for dinner - for both main course (with ham, cheese, spinach) and dessert.

jay55 · 03/03/2025 21:33

Pre-made for breakfast, fresh made for dinner.
