Do you have them for breakfast or desert?

We usually have them for breakfast before school but DP suggested we eat them for dinner this year which seems wrong to me 😂

Scotch pancakes? Never heard of those and I live there!

Just how many types are there 😁

I don’t know how it’s possible to live in Scotland and not have heard of Scotch pancakes. Also known as drop scones. Or just pancakes.

I've only ever heard of Americans eating them at breakfast. Here's, instead of evening meal.

Pretty much anywhere we go for breakfast or brunch has a pancake option.

Annual reminder that like many things* "American" pancakes are the normal sort in Scotland and eaten by Scottish people....

Just had a blueberry one for morning tea break

That would be a bannock.

Pancakes where we are, were the thin ones.

I made cheese and bacon pancakes for tea followed by pancakes with lemon and sugar for dessert

Bannocks are scone like in most of Scotland... Aberdeenshire is a bit different... in more ways than one 🤪

They're certainly not called Scotch pancakes in the NE.

I'd just call them wee pancakes and American ones big pancakes 😅

TheFirstTimeEverISawYourFace · 04/03/2025 19:43

My DCs had them for breakfast
Then had more for pudding this pm 🤣

Miranda1723 · 04/03/2025 23:21

We had them for dinner tonight, with a savoury, cheesy leek filling, before using the rest of the batter for pudding ones - lemon, sugar etc. Love pancakes!

Had American style with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast.

NotVeryFunny · 05/03/2025 00:58

Dinner and dessert.

Ham and cheese followed by maple syrup and icecream this year (as that's all we had in but was super nice!!!).
