Do you have them for breakfast or desert?

We usually have them for breakfast before school but DP suggested we eat them for dinner this year which seems wrong to me 😂

I made pancakes for breakfast and will be making more for dinner (DC are all at secondary school).

TeenLifeMum · 04/03/2025 12:54

Dinner with mince and as dessert. I’m not a morning person and neither are my dc. Dd1 gets the bus at 7.30 so eats breakfast at 6.30. No chance am I cooking at 6.30!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 04/03/2025 13:08

@AllProperTeaIsTheft

We have a school age child and both work. But I make the batter the night before and chop the fruit so takes 10 minutes to make a couple per person😊

Dinner tonight, although pancakes for dinner is quite common in the Netherlands where dh is from.

Fasterthan40 · 04/03/2025 13:54

Crepe style for breakfast with fruit and yogurt, wraps for packed lunch, summer rolls (Vietnamese rice paper pancakes) for supper and American style with icecream for pudding. I might also make ricotta pancakes which I prefer. Like you we make the breakfast batter the night before.

LadyNairne · 04/03/2025 13:55

Always dinner time. The game is to see who can eat the most.

(the rest of the year pancakes are of course a breakfast food, usually for Sunday)

I've only ever heard of Americans eating them at breakfast. Here's, instead of evening meal.

Exactly. Never heard of Shrove Tuesday pancakes for breakfast.

Zeldasie · 04/03/2025 13:57

After dinner as dessert!

HundredPercentUnsure · 04/03/2025 14:00

Growing up as a child - for pudding or dessert (not in the desert)

As a responsibility free young adult- savoury for dinner, sweet for dessert

As an adult, parent, working mum - tomorrow

TigerRag · 04/03/2025 14:01

I had them for breakfast this morning with maple syrup and bacon

I might go full hog, and have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I like your style.

skyeisthelimit · 04/03/2025 14:12

If we have them then we have them for tea. and they would be the main and only course

caringcarer · 04/03/2025 15:00

2 Cheese and ham pancakes with filling here for dinner and another one with chocolate spread or jam for dessert. DH makes the mixture and I do mains and he does desserts.

Villagetoraiseachild · 04/03/2025 15:15

I had a sourdough buckwheat pancake this morning.
I know, it's a bit niche, but I got a pancake maker last year and I am working up to learning how to make a dosa. Jamie Oliver made one earlier this year, so it must be possible and they are my favourite thing.

For nostalgia tho, crepes in the evening with lemon and sugar or that axis of delicious evil, golden syrup!

RaraRachael · 04/03/2025 15:16

What are American pancakes?

What are American pancakes?

Floofy, thick ones, with baking powder in/ self raising flour.

Always for dinner (not as a dessert, as the main meal!).

bringonyourwreckingball · 04/03/2025 15:37

Will be dinner here as dd2 is now gluten free so shop bought wasn’t an option. I am making potato pancakes with eggs Benedict then sweet ones with strawberries.

RaraRachael · 04/03/2025 15:43

Thanks @Villagetoraiseachild that sounds like the ones I make. I did realise there were other types

deeahgwitch · 04/03/2025 15:51

Dinner time in the kitchen.

MajorCarolDanvers · 04/03/2025 15:53

Butter and jam.

on scotch pancakes not French crepes

RaraRachael · 04/03/2025 16:04

Scotch pancakes? Never heard of those and I live there!

Just how many types are there 😁

OMGitsnotgood · 04/03/2025 16:14

We'd have them for tea. A couple with cheese, ham and tomato, then banana and Nutella or grated chocolate. Lemon and a little sugar wirb the remaining batter for anyone who wanted more.

Natsku · 04/03/2025 16:16

We're having them for dinner today, don't have time or energy to cook both dinner and pancakes.
