Which one would it be? Missing persons, unsolved murders or even random unexplained events.

I want to know what happened on the Mary Celeste

I read a theory about what seafarers used to do when a ship caught fire at sea.
The crew would get into the lifeboat which would be tied by long ropes to the burning ship. So it would be attached some way behind the ship and the crew would wait until the fire extinguished itself before boarding again.
Of course there are many snags with this practise (if it ever was anything more than a theory) but it was thought that on this occasion the ropes either burned through or were not firmly attached to the lifeboat which drifted free and the occupants eventually drowned or died of thirst.
Thus the Marie Celeste sailed on as a ghost ship, the fire having indeed burnt out.

Ruth Wilsons mum (step mum although we didn’t know that) was my primary school teacher for three years in a row and was my favourite teacher. This was a few years before Ruth disappeared, although not many.

Ruth is/was a year older than me, iirc. Mrs Wilson used to tell us all the time that they didn’t have a tv at home; when I was a teenager I wondered if she’d left home for that reason (teenager logic). I think about her quite often.

Andrew Gosden.

I think we know what happened to Claudia & Madeline already, even if the police can’t prove it.

Lisa Dorian. Her family so deserve answers and to be able to bury her with dignity.

The origins and what had happened to the young boy the police named Adam. He was found dead in the Thames in the 80s, AFAICR.
He was from West Africa and there were no official records about him.

Abandoned houses where everything is left even personal photos. Surely there must be a relative some where. I just find it sad that it's all just left to rot.

Yes, I watch hundreds every year of YouTubers etc that do this, exploring abandoned buildings and homes, and I say to myself how did they just up and go or vanish with everything still there in tact. It's crazy. To me, I wish I could find out what happened to them. Sometimes, you are told i.e they died or just disappeared but how come no one took over the house. Or came to clear it out. Its incredible as well when you come across a home still perfect, not damaged or vandalised or ransacked.

I’ve always wanted to know if the lady who claimed to be Princess Anastasia really was who she said she was. I think her claim was disproven but i lost track of the story.

There is something compelling about the idea that a young girl escaped a killing spree.

Al the Romanov family were eventually found and identified via dna.
Iirc Anastasia and Alexai were found separately to the rest of the family.

Wonder whether some have gone into witness protection or similar?

What existed before the universe as we know it and how did we come into being. At the point of Bing Bang, the universe was a singularity smaller than a sub-atomic particle - if it existed at all.

Everything we know today existed inside this tiny space - except for the fact that it did not because even the tiny space did not exist.

Everything came out of nothing in a split second - except for the fact it did not because even time did not exist until Big Bang.

All we had was nothing - except even nothing was immeasurable before we came into being.

@2dogsandabudgie
Lots of people die intestate and without family.
Theres a property I’ve had my eye on ( 🥴) in Guernsey for about 20years that has clearly been empty all that time.
If there’s no family there’s no one to sort things out and Local councils can’t just take it over.
If there’s a mortgage on the property of course the mortgage company can after it’s in default

A different example that we were involved in
We lived in a flat in London and the flat below that was also the freehold property had no owner.
There basically was a dodgy deal whereby the flat was sold ( dodgy solicitor and buyer ) with a mortgage involved and the new owners never paid the mortgage. It happened to a flat next door to us as well. Same buyers and solicitor. The buyers disappeared. We couldn’t sell our flat without a freeholder and had to take procession for ten years in order to get Adverse procession of the freehold and ground floor flat just to sell ours.

Next door allowed the mortgage company in and they changed the locks and the mortgage company took Adverse Pocession of that flat but we wouldn’t allow the mortgage company in to our property…they didn’t have keys so why would we.
So, another example of how properties become abandoned. ( We were told that this scam happened to more properties in the area. )

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 02/03/2025 14:30

@SiobhanSharpe it's hard to believe that it could have happened as recently as the 2000s, isn't it? You're right though, I'd love it to be solved. It's one of the worst cases ever.

CarobBean72 · 02/03/2025 14:36

Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey - sorry! 17th century so not going to be solved now.

Suzy Lamplugh - there’s a faint suggestion Pellicot might have had a hand in it, so one has

Asha Degree the.official explanation of her disappearance makes no sense
Why would a nine year old leave the house in the dead of night a
In apparently appalling weather ?

They have some suspects in this case, a local family. Still unsure at to why she left the house but hoping it will be solved very soon!

There is a BBC Sounds 6 part podcast on this. It’s worth a listen if you’re interested. I too find the case fascinating.

Thank you for this, I will definitely give it a listen. It’s a shocking case

I thought the police had made some developments on this one in recent years and have a hypothesis and some suspects in mind.

It's weird how certain things cause you to realise the passing of time. I was an adult when this happened and would have guessed off the top of my head it was around 10 years ago. I'm a little shook to realise it's over 20 years ago.

Yes, there seemed to be some developments but no arrests. I’ve read some interviews with the family and they’ve been quite critical of Police Scotland, it’s very sad.
It is hard to believe it’s been so long! I was 10 years old at the time of the murder but with it being fairly local, it was shocking to me even then as a child. It’s always stuck with me.
