Postcode Lottery Winners

Hi,

Are there any postcode lottery winners out there? I’m talking people who won more than £5 or e-gift cards? I know there are showing on TV people winning considerable amounts of money but I’m still skeptical…Contemplating if I should carry on playing or stop the monthly subscription.

Looking at the map a street in the v v v expensive area near us won the big kahuna. No one who lives there needs it!

Buttons0522 · 27/02/2025 18:32

Yes, aunt and uncle won around £20k years ago. A street a stone’s throw away won a few weeks ago and they all got £100k. It’s strange seeing their faces on the ads now!

BananaBubbless · 27/02/2025 18:34

A postcode up the road from me won a share of £1 million last year so I doubt my area will have another big win or I’d be tempted to join it.

Does it work if you are the only one in the postcode to enter ?

Yes, you just wouldn't need to split the amount between the rest of the street if it was a pot to split.

BananaBubbless · 27/02/2025 18:37

My brother has played it for years and never won a penny. At some points they send random tea bags.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 27/02/2025 18:38

I don’t subscribe - never have done but just a few months ago a friend won c£9k and another in the c£150k. Don’t know how much they’ve paid to PL though?

The postcode district would be expanded if there aren’t enough winners according to their website.

You don't have to use your own postcode. When I moved, I contacted them to say I'd moved and needed to change my postcode, only to be told that you can use any postcode 🤷‍♂️

Bongo45 · 27/02/2025 18:48

I've won lots of £10, now £12 but have you ever tried to cancel. I had two tickets on the same address and wanted to cancel. Geez one of the hardest salesperson I've ever had. He was not for letting me go. Ended up keeping one ticket.

ThatWardrobe · 27/02/2025 18:49

I know someone who won £30k a few years ago. Sadly lives round the corner, not my postcode!

WilsonRemain · 27/02/2025 18:52

Friends of ours won just over £340K and they both had tickets

CandyCane457 · 27/02/2025 18:54

I only do the free one and once won £60!

Isobel201 · 27/02/2025 18:56

I've cancelled it after sticking with it for a few years. I used the opportunity when I had to change card details anyway just to cancel instead. I'm not looking to see what I could win, but I never had any major wins, just the odd tenner.

DecoratingDiva · 27/02/2025 18:57

Yep, I have won £12 lots of times and my ‘big’ win was £4.5k. The people with the exact match on the big win had two tickets so they got just over £600k.

My auntie! Everyone in her street won £60k each!!
I've been playing years and probably only won 3 or 4 tenners so it literally is pot luck!

It's a con. Who chooses the postcode.

Random comment of the day🤔

SedentaryCat · 27/02/2025 19:06

My parents postcode won a big prize - several hundred thousand pounds.

My parents, unfortunately, had not signed up.

We've won many small £10 prizes. Nothing big as yet.

JingsMahBucket · 27/02/2025 19:09

I’ve never understood this or played and just checked our post code on the site. There have only been £10 or £12 winners for the past 11 years. What scam. How much does it cost to play?

JSerb · 27/02/2025 19:11

Wholesomelonesome · 27/02/2025 18:16

A friends mum cancelled and missed out on £66,000 just a few weeks after! Stick with it!

That must’ve sucked

Jeez I just checked and it costs £12 per month to play?? What, so once every 4 years you win £10 or £12 but you’ve paid out £576? The math ain’t mathing.

BananaBubbless · 27/02/2025 19:22

I’ve checked my local area. Nobody has won over £10 except for the one street who hit lucky.

Pigeonqueen · 27/02/2025 19:22

But the point is you might win a large amount. So £12 a month that we don’t even notice going out is worth the gamble.

Newyorklady · 27/02/2025 19:27

Win £12 last week.
win £10 a couple of times that’s it.
Trouble is if I come out and postcode drawn for the bug prize id really regret it !

That's why it's called postcode lottery, lottery being the important part because it's not an ISA or anything with an interest rate so you don't expect a return.

Songbird54321 · 27/02/2025 19:33

I've only ever got a tenner here and there.
A family member has won the £1000 prize and then about £8k another time.
The postcode opposite us won over £100k recently. It was a sickener I won't lie, to miss out by one fecking letter.
I just pretended to be happy for them whilst seething inside.
Can't cancel though, knowing my luck our postcode will be drawn for the million pound win.
