Anyone want to join me in a March "glow up"?

LavenderIsland · 23/02/2025 08:33

Getting ready to emerge from wintery clothes and comfort food and wanting to look better, I feel it's time to sort things out.
Starting a bit before March to give myself 6 weeks to lose a stone and sort out my skin and hair, I'm doing the following -

Eat nutrient rich food
No snacking
Daily walk
15 minute daily weight workout
Daily skin care and moisturising
Haircut
Weekly face mask
Weekly hair mask
Foot mask

As well as that I'm starting to declutter and want to read instead of being on my phone at night.

Come join in SmileBrew

Oh yes please, I'd like to join. I don't feel great about myself right now.. need to put a bit of time and effort in I think

berksandbeyond · 23/02/2025 08:36

I go on holiday 6 weeks today and I'd really like to be feeling a lot better about myself by then

goingdownfighting · 23/02/2025 08:37

Oooh I'm in! Let myself go this past few months. Need a reset.

Your list looks very reasonable and achievable. I'll post mine when I've had some time.

RockStarMartini · 23/02/2025 08:50

Yes please! I really need some motivation to look and feel better when we emerge from winter.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 23/02/2025 09:20

Great idea. Currently a hairy sloth, hoping to be a butterfly 😀

LavenderIsland · 23/02/2025 09:44

Excellent to have company.
So everyone's first task to resource what they need, so get in your

Healthy food
Skin, foot and hair care products
Vitamins and supplements (vitamin d and floradix are good)

Make sure your exercise clothes and trainers are ready

Look at this weeks schedule, decide what exercise you'll be doing and then timetable in your slots. Also, make time slots for your meal prep.

This sounds like a good idea. I'm in!

roseymoira · 23/02/2025 09:50

Oohh yes me!

Skincare sorted, just need to be consistent.

I started weekly hair masks a couple of months ago already.

Exercise is where I fall down massively. Going to try and do a work out three times a week. Nothing major just a 15 min YouTube one. Daily stretch routine for my bad back.

Any foot mask recommendations?

ForestDragon · 23/02/2025 09:59

Great idea - I'd like to join! Have lost most of a stone since January with support of another thread (still a way to go, but I've got a consistent calorie deficit etc so just have to keep going). Would love to have a month being consistent and building good habits in other areas. Will work on my list!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2025 10:25

Me please!
Since January I've been dithering around on my diet losing and regaining a few pounds here and there. Enough is enough!

My plan is:
Multivits, collagen gummies and berberine supplement every day
2 refills of my massive "Stanley" fake of water every day
Gym session 8 x a month (4 Saturdays plus 4 Thursday am classes)
10k steps every day (usually manage this because of dog 🐕)
Sort my feet out, maybe with a footner
Stick to strict fast 800 plan for 2 weeks, then go 5:2
Continue dry January (not had a drink yet this year)
Dedicate a bit of time every day to just looking after myself, either doing a hypno, moisturising, straightening my hair, etc etc
Wear make up and do my hair for wfh
Wear some of my nicer clothes (difficult because it's so goddamn cold that regardless of what I wear, I have a huge thick jumper over the top)

I was looking through some photos yesterday. 2 years ago I was trim, lean, tanned, I looked so healthy and happy. Now I feel like a miserable dumpy old toad 🐸

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2025 10:26

No idea why my post has been hidden?!

Decklededge · 23/02/2025 10:35

Yes please - I'll join you.
I need to lose at least one stone but I think I'll just aim to lose half a stone this month. I've not been taking care of myself at all and need to show myself more respect and love. I've given up on myself recently and I'm unhappy about it.
I like your ideas OP. I will join you on the 15 minute weight workout. I will also try:
Complete my exercise wheel on my watch
Healthy food choices - snacks are the issue here
Put my phone away when I get home
Read 30 minutes daily
Try meditation - 5 minutes to start

That'll do for now. Thank you for this.

notacooldad · 23/02/2025 10:39

I've already started as I'm going to be 60 in a couple of months.
So far
Lip blush and eye liner tattoo. Love it!!!
Microbladed but not the surprised arch look. It looks fabulous. All these make me look fresh, groomed but not over the top.

No alcohol since 31st December. I'm getting used to asking for tap water on night out!!!

Weight lifting. I'm going heavy( for me) yesterday I managed 2 sets of 8 @ 90 kg deadlift which I was pleased with!

My weight is dropping as I've been eating food as close to it's natural state so no sugar. I'm keeping my diet simple but making every meal with fresh ingredients. I'm loving my daily Budha bowl!
I'm missing ice cream but never mind!

I've been walking on the moors 3x a week for around 5 -9 miles away time.

I've been having regular pedicures, manicures and also having a few eyelashes fitted. I just have a full set for special occasions but a few individual ones look good on the outter edges.

I've been doing lots of flexibility and stretching at home using exercises from Fiton or instagram suggestions.
People are noticing a difference and I've lost over a stone.
Once you start to see yourself a bit different you want to keep going.

I'm really pleased that I didn't put my old favourite Oliver Bonas dress and Monsoon tops up on Vinted, I'm wearing them again!

notnorman · 23/02/2025 10:41

May I join too please. I've lost weight but feel so tired and unhealthy

mulberrybag · 23/02/2025 10:52

I'm in!
I've had a tough couple of years and at mid 40s feel and look absolutely haggard.
Excessive phone time, lack of proper diet/appetite, weight loss & zero exercise routine has me firmly procrastinating and need accountability - thanks for starting this thread :)

Make your own icecream it's so easy and not ultraprocessed. 2 pots double cream 1 tin condensed milk and tsp of vanilla extract (or mint flavour or blend in any random fruits). Wisk it till its thick and holds shape then freeze. I put it in silicone cupcake trays to freeze so get little blobs that then put in a tub to take out one and a time. Takes longer to soften than normal icecream so just take out bit more you want to eat it

fluffyblanky · 23/02/2025 11:12

Yes please!

I need to lose half a stone at least.
Drink less redbull
Eat better

GameOfJones · 23/02/2025 11:17

I'd like to join please!

Things that I already do:

Ditching some screen time for reading. I'm on book number 15 since January 1st at the minute and have felt so much better for it.

Skincare routine is consistent.

Weekly yoga class.

Intermittent fasting.

2 mins of HIIT, three times a day to get my heart rate up. I do it when I'm waiting for the kettle to boil.

Things I want to work on over the next 6 weeks:

More nutritious food.

More water.

Consistently taking my vitamins.

More walking and getting my steps in.

LavenderIsland · 23/02/2025 11:55

@roseymoira I bought a foot mask I saw on offer from w7 I think and have sone soap&glory foot creams. I've yet to use them so can't recommend anything yet!

I'm using a rose hip oil for my skin and taking some fish oil tool.

Just had breakfast. A Lavash wrap with avocado and and some black beans that I cooked with chopped onion, tomatoes and spices. The wrap is really nice and I bought it from the supermarket. It seems to have way less ingredients than the other wraps you can buy.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2025 12:15

@roseymoira I think footner is the best, I've used various ones but I think it's worth the price. I put the slippers on, put really tight socks on over the top and keep the mask on for several Hours. Once the peel starts if you soak your feet but don't use any moisturiser you should get good results. I also like flexitol heel balm for when my heels are really cracked.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 23/02/2025 12:35

Right, I've got the exercise bike down from the loft. Making tomato and pepper soup. I've got tons of posh skincare samples so I'll be trying to use all those up!

KittyWindbag · 23/02/2025 12:36

I have been feeling so drab and lacking time for self-care so this is just what I need!

my daily plans are
.take all my vitamins daily
.drink 2.6 litres of water
.do a weekly hair oil treatment
.put little skincare eyepatches on every morning while I make my coffee - I have loads and never use them!
.religious nail strengthened and cuticle oil
.no alcohol unless there’s a special occasion
.walking with my weighted vest 5k a day

goingdownfighting · 23/02/2025 12:41

Plan for the week:

Intermittent fasting
Increase protein/water
Take skincare to the next level - basics are ok
Do a foot peel and book gel toes for 3 weeks time.
Book 2 x exercise classes in and do some home videos.

Good things already in place:

Sleep, nutrition is ok
Hair ok

Good luck everyone!

Daisyvodka · 23/02/2025 12:58

I'll join! I've got a wedding in April so great timing.
I've bought a new Moroccan exfoliating mitt and I'm trying to get into a really good exfoliating, moisturising, tan routine.
Lots of good food and 2L water a day.
Alternate between a hair mask and K18 on wash days, and try to only blow dry once a week to reduce heat on it.
45 min weight workout and stretching 4-5 times a week.
Daily scalp massage and rosemary oil on my hair overnight or a couple of hours before a wash.
Keep my nails looking nice! I have got out of the habit of painting them and when I do i rush, but I find it so soothing.
I also want to do a 'power half hour' every day where I set a timer and do as much housework/tidying as I can - I did it a few times in January and it made such a difference!
Lots of great ideas on this thread - good luck all!

I am sort of thinking about tinting my brows, but they have sparse patches so I would still need a little powder filler I think - just trying to find products that don't take up too much space in my makeup bag - pencils always seem to just sit on top of my skin and don't look natural.

LavenderIsland · 23/02/2025 13:07

The footner peel sounds excellent. I'm going to get one.
I love the idea of the Power Half Hour.
