Anyone want to join me in a March "glow up"?

Getting ready to emerge from wintery clothes and comfort food and wanting to look better, I feel it's time to sort things out.
Starting a bit before March to give myself 6 weeks to lose a stone and sort out my skin and hair, I'm doing the following -

Eat nutrient rich food
No snacking
Daily walk
15 minute daily weight workout
Daily skin care and moisturising
Haircut
Weekly face mask
Weekly hair mask
Foot mask

As well as that I'm starting to declutter and want to read instead of being on my phone at night.

Come join in SmileBrew

So hair masks/oil leave your hair greasy?

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 23/02/2025 14:02

I’d like to join, I’ve sorted of started my spring glow up this week anyway.

So far I’ve:

Started a Skin and Me prescription including tretinoin to try to improve my smile lines.
Bought some spring gel nail varnishes that I’ll give to myself for my birthday on Tuesday.
Started fake tanning again.
Started body brushing to try to improve the bits of cellulite on the backs of my legs.
Started taking magnesium for sleep a few weeks ago.
Remembered to take my other supplements and drink green tea.
Started drinking more water.

Wow that’s a lot when I write it down!

I’m already good for diet and exercise but I do need to do something about my feet, this thread has reminded me.

allgrownupnow · 23/02/2025 14:07

I want to join!
So many things I am reading on this thread that I want/need/always intend to do... having some group accountability will help
Grooming, esp nails and feet
Walking every day
Power half hour
15 min daily work out

Blooming in spring 🌻

Middlemarch123 · 23/02/2025 14:17

I’m in too.

I don’t need to lose weight, but need to tone up a bit, especially upper body. I’m a dog walker so walk people’s pooches for miles every day, so that’s ok. I’m committing to half hour yoga every weekday morning.

If I set too many goals I’ll feel overwhelmed and give up, so mine are:

Drink more water instead of countless mugs of tea. Healthy fruit and veg snacks between meals, rather than mainlining maltesers. Increase lean protein and decrease carbs. Week day yoga. Continuing to avoid alcohol, gave up in November and the improvement in my wellbeing has been incredible.

Good luck everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2025 14:21

I love the power half hour too. I work from home and I always promised I would use my "commute" as a golden hour to transform my life... yeah, I don't. But I should!

I work for a charity head office so in January each year I do a 'one bag a week' challenge to myself, 1 bag to charity and one bag to the bin every week until I can't find anything to donate! Doing it like that means I never get that horrible overwhelm feeling of getting rid of everything.

Cally62 · 23/02/2025 14:37

OMG I need this thread.

I have just under 4 weeks to get my body and mind in shape before I go to the UAE for a month to look after my 4 year old gd.

The only thing I feel good about is my hair. Recently found a new hairdresser and have been having a cut every 4 weeks. This has stopped my self sabotage of my fringe.

I need to eat well, sleep well and exercise and look after myself.

My skin is dry and milky white.

Will do a footner this week. Desperately need inspiration and a kick up my bum.

62 and need to definitely get a glow going.

Browniesandcustard · 23/02/2025 14:47

Please can I join? I need this … so far this weekend I’ve:

started decluttering the house
haircut
tried to drink more water

lots to start adding but lots of inspiration from here so far

Ickity · 23/02/2025 14:49

Love your plan

Cloud44 · 23/02/2025 15:13

Oh can I follow for some inspiration and accountability! Does anyone else find it hard to get into good habits when work takes over?! What vitamins would everyone recommend? Early 40s!

IUnderstandTheWeird · 23/02/2025 15:19

I’ve let my yoga, weights and mobility exercises slide these last several months, after a difficult period, so my aim is to restart those.
I’ve just ordered this after seeing a dermatologist review on The Ordinary GF saying it wasn’t great and that these are excellent. I’m so miserable about my wrinkles, they are so much worse after a weight drop and menopause.
I’d love to sort my wardrobe too instead of living in (unflattering) jeans and sweatshirts.
Following for tips and inspiration.

Anyone want to join me in a March "glow up"?
suneetime · 23/02/2025 15:56

I’m in. Start a new job in 5 weeks so feels like a good starting timeframe for me.

Things I’ve already been doing since Jan:
decluttering - have sent loads to charity and sold some on Vinted. working my way around the house sorting a drawer/cupboard at a time.
intermittent fasting - have been fairly successful but starting to wane so need to stick to it.
lose weight - have a couple of stone to lose and have lost 9lbs so far. Trying to do it steadily so I don’t give up.
less wine - doing better but still a work in progress
reading more books

want to do better at:
skincare - I’m ok in the morning but lazy at night.
water - need lots more
sleep - ditto
feet - inspired by this thread, sort them out! I have foot masks so need to use them.
clothes - stop wearing the same few things all the time and start wearing some of my nicer stuff

i think that’s enough for now. Plan on starting couch to 5k once I’ve lost a bit more weight. But that can wait.

Cathy31 · 23/02/2025 16:06

Yes please! My youngest is just getting to a more manageable age, though sleep is still up and down so I'm going to be flexible with the rules, but my plan is:

  • 4-5 yoga classes/ week
  • 1 solo swim + 1 family swim/ week
  • 3+ portions of veg/ day
  • 3 meals, no snacking
  • read or write every evening, even just 1 page
  • eye makeup and jewelry every day

In the process of doing up a house so decluttering and living in a total mess at the same time, but I'll try to spend some time in the garden most days too.

babasaclover · 23/02/2025 16:16

I'll join you please. Was doing so well this year then got struck down for 2 weeks illness and now struggling to break back into it

WhatIsCorndogs · 23/02/2025 16:44

I'm in!! I'm on topical spironolactone for my stubborn adult acne, and i feel i need some extra skincare to really clear it up and make me glow. I'd also like to sort my hair our (it's long and thick and shapeless) and also do some strength training (which is difficult as I have M.E). I need something to get me motivated!!

Junegirl15 · 23/02/2025 18:10

I so need this…need to work on improving my diet and skincare routine. Already walk once a day at least but want to add some weights and stretching in as well. I think keeping to a few simple steps is key for me

JSMill · 23/02/2025 18:13

I like this! Place marking for ideas.

Cathy31 · 24/02/2025 06:15

Awful night's sleep, as if my baby knew my plans! 😂
Today, I'm having nuts &berries & yoghurt for breakfast, salmon open sandwich and raw veggies for lunch, rice & dhal for dinner
WFH so I'll be wearing basics ie scruffs, but I will wear mascara and earrings.

DH away so no chance to go through diaries and get yoga classes booked but I can do that tonight.

I'm also adding:
Get outside every day
Vit D supplements

Need to do a shop, get the supplements and stock up on healthy food.

Despite the lack of sleep, I'm feeling pretty positive. Pinterest gives me inspiration!

OuiLaLa · 24/02/2025 06:29

Ooo, can I join too please? Currently have a nasty cold and about to start a big new job but early 40’s, overweight and need to just start with looking after myself!

multivits (need to order some omegas)
sleep
healthier food
more water
evening skincare (good in the mornings)
use body oil every other night
hair cut, deep condition, look at colouring my greys
Less evening scrolling
get on the exercise bike!

that is my starter for ten. Recently started really looking after my feet and seen an improvement there. I have a nice scrub from boots which is a joy to use in the mornings.

lilybloom2 · 24/02/2025 06:37

I'd like to join please
I feel a bit blah at 50. My hair is thinning, my skin looks tired and I've lost my zing

I have started moisturising my body after every shower but need to do more

WhitegreeNcandle · 24/02/2025 07:09

I’m in please. A tricky month at work and I’ve left my healthy eating and exercise slide. Which in turn makes everything else worse!! Need to stop the evening snacking and scrolling.

PenguinIce · 24/02/2025 07:33

I’m in! Would love to lose a stone in the next 6 weeks. I started running 3 times a week back in January and although I have been completing the runs have still managed to put weight on. Need to remember going for a run doesn’t mean I can spend all evening snacking!

Going to get my diet under control. Take the many vitamins and supplements I have and also keep to my skincare routine. The power half hour sounds good too.

Mumofyellows · 24/02/2025 07:35

Yes please! 😁

hby9628 · 24/02/2025 07:43

Yes plse!
I did well in January. Lots of self care, no alcohol & shifted 10lb
Feb has been a bit more slippery and a couple of lb have sneaked back on.
4 weeks until a work event & I want to feel good for that. I'm really want to shift a stone by the end of May for our hol

hby9628 · 24/02/2025 07:46

Pilates tonight. My back isn't great so thinking I need to up the walking rather than high impact exercise.
This week is so busy. I could get up before work for a walk with the dog though. He won't mind that!

GameOfJones · 24/02/2025 08:53

Yesterday:

I had a bath and used my exfoliating gloves and also applied a hair mask.

I did 3 x 2 minutes of HIIT.

I lay on my shakti mat for 20 minutes.

I used a foot file to tackle some of the hard skin on my feet.

I decluttered two bags of clothes and dropped them off at the charity donation bins.
