Anyone want to join me in a March "glow up"?

Getting ready to emerge from wintery clothes and comfort food and wanting to look better, I feel it's time to sort things out.
Starting a bit before March to give myself 6 weeks to lose a stone and sort out my skin and hair, I'm doing the following -

Eat nutrient rich food
No snacking
Daily walk
15 minute daily weight workout
Daily skin care and moisturising
Haircut
Weekly face mask
Weekly hair mask
Foot mask

As well as that I'm starting to declutter and want to read instead of being on my phone at night.

Well done everyone. It great that everyone here is at different stages of glow up but all are making incremental progress.

Hi all. So I've had a good week all in all despite the migraine trying to derail me

I've upped the skincare and I'm reaping the benefits already

Vits have been sporadic

I've book my nails appointment.

I've also attended an additional cardio class as well as completed my usual 2 x reformer classes.
I'm particularly proud of this as I've had task paralysis with it for years. It was an awful class though. I can't describe it but it will have to do until I find another one. It's not like it didn't serve its purpose and it's at a time and place that actually works for me on a regular basis so I'll suck it up. It doesn't help that one of the women who attends was fired by my husband so having to deal with her daggers. They're really cliquey too but I'm not there for friends.

I've increased my protein intake. Although my lion bar intake hasn't reduced unfortunately.

The sun has been shining which has been a tonic. So I'm back on the sunscreen.

Happy weekend everyone!

Joining in. Smile
Had a chiropodist appointment and my hair cut yesterday Feet are now without hard skin, hair is great. I’ve got a decent skin care routine apart from spf so that’s something that I need to sort out.

Started taking daily collagen and multivitamins a few weeks ago and now added magnesium supplements too.
Exercise is nonexistent at the moment so I need to give myself a kick up the bum. I’ll start with some yoga, and more walking. Definitely over weight, pushing 58 and loath dieting so it will be small changes

If it's any help, I love love love Ultra Violette supreme screen SPF 50. It's light but moisturising and gives a lovely glow.

BeansCounter · 01/03/2025 18:49

@goingdownfighting reformer pilates - is it worth it? It's super expensive where I am.

YorkieTheRabbit · 02/03/2025 09:16

@user9876543211 thanks, I’ll have a look at that Smile

LavenderIsland · 02/03/2025 09:18

Had a bit of a blow out yesterday but I figure it's all part of the learning curve.
We can't avoid all social events.

Quieter and healthier day today.
I made some "weight loss" soup (which is mainly a veg and bean soup) yesterday morning so I'll have that for lunch today.
Carrying on with skincare and exercise and might even use a mask today.

Had a very busy day in the garden yesterday, and didn't wear gloves (I always remember gloves after I've got well stuck in 🙈) my hands and nails are a mess today! Neglected the fasting and sensible choices yesterday too, but once a week instead a bad thing I suppose. Will try to remember to do a serum sheet mask later tonight and slather some of the excess into my hands, depends how tired I am after another day ripping out ivy 😂

Itsthatime · 02/03/2025 10:25

I’ll join you if that’s ok. I did a glow up spreadsheet last year. Was going well until august, when I stopped following it and went back to my slovenly ways 🙄.

Anyway, just started again. This week’s challenge is;
Stick to 5:2!
No wine Sun-Wed.
Start vitamin and skincare regime again.
Throw out bag of clothes.
At least one exercise class and one long dog walk.
Sort brows out

I’ve been reading with interest but not really got stuck in here as I’ve been blighted by covid but it’s been lovely to read what you’re all up to.

despite the lurgy, I have however been taking vitamins daily (c and zinc for the lurgy, but also d, magnesium and a probiotic which also benefits the virus but just general health too)

i also started off really well with looooooads of vegetables which started to slack as I got more yuck, still eating really well just maybe some broccoli rather than 4 different types per meal you know? And only water and coffee for drinks.

no exercise due to feeling crap but will start that - walking and yoga (got a bad back right now so need both)

I always struggle at the weekends so some fizzy drinks have snuck in, and some chocolate / cake but not too OTT and will be back on it properly tomorrow.

I made a mix of castor oil, jojoba oil and frankincense for some natural skin care, I did a patch test today and will start that this week. I’ve really found any chemical stuff really getting up my nose of late and I can’t stand synthetic fragrance and the like so hopefully it won’t bother me the way other products do!

broke a nail yesterday so had to cut them all off (I don’t like mismatched lengths) so feeling stubby and ugly there.

shaved my face today as it was looking so fluffy!

out in the garden getting some fresh air and vitamin d.

i want to wear some form of make up when I’m out and about as I feel so grotty if I don’t. But equally let my skin breathe when I can.

I’ve got into a terrible habit of living in leggings and a jumper but I’m carrying a few pounds so my jeans don’t fit comfortably and I don’t have any money to treat myself so will have to make do. Not that I do much other than the school run and housework anyway!

got a holiday in May and would like to get 7-14lbs off by then. I don’t subscribe to dieting, I eat well and appropriate portions but I need to cut out the junk food and I know it’ll come off on its own. Very slowly 😉

jumpintheline · 02/03/2025 13:58

In the last week have stuck to 16:8 fasting but relaxed over the weekend. Am premenstrual and hungry.

Have been out for walks in this gorgeous sunshine yesterday and today.

Had a nap on the sofa yesterday afternoon while our toddler slept.

Had a few glasses of wine with a friend Friday night but otherwise no alcohol.

Made a bit more progress with my January book.. Really do need to nail that and start February’s..

@BeansCounter as someone who hates and never sticks to exercising , I'm addicted. I've been doing it twice a week since April last year. It doesn't help with weight loss but I'm more aligned and move better. My body feels younger and more sprightly. It also sorts my emotions out and rebalances me. Plus I'm toned.

It's pricey. But it's something that I prioritise financially above some other things.

Shop around for classes. I pay £15.50 a class because I buy a class plass. Or find a physio led mat Pilates class.

Overall had a good week. Had at least one walk every day. Built in some squats, knee lifts, lunges throughout the day, and had vitamins every day. No alcohol during the week. Also did a trip to the tip this weekend. Did a face mask tonight and had a hair cut (it is years since I had a salon cut).
This week I need to work on diet more and try to sort out my spotty skin - which has developed post menopause. Any tips on how to sort the spots?
Will also start a gradual tan this week.

Well done! As someone who hates exercise I find that so inspiring. I am going to try and get into it.

Ickity · 03/03/2025 09:30

@Junegirl15 the only thing that’s ever worked for my spots is duac.

thinkofablinkingnamewoman · 03/03/2025 10:47

Just back from a weekend away. Not the best food choices but did over 20,000 steps each day so that was great. Also took a serum with me and used it each evening. It's beautiful here today and I've a day off, so heading to Sainsbury's for some good food choices and then going to get some fresh air.

I've also fallen for a FB ad and bought some Laura Geller makeup so will have a play with that later. The colours look lovely and spring like anyway!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 03/03/2025 17:22

I don’t feel very glowy today as I couldn’t do my power half hour as I had to attend a training day at another office. So I sat in the car for ages, sat all day in a too small, too hot room and now I’m all fidgety! I did walk the dog on the field as soon as I got home which allowed me to decompress a bit and I bought a huge, fake Stanley cup at lunch time for my water. I can’t do my pole dancing either tonight as I have to go to a meeting 😭. And tomorrow I have to attend day 2 of the training 😭😭.

DS has started Duac and I’m amazed at how quickly it’s clearing up his spots!

stayathomer · 03/03/2025 17:25

I’m in for the beauty self care and drinking water and eating a bit better but having a tough time at the mo so need some comfort food so will go down a side path and meet you all there😉

I'm using topical spironolactone, it's a hormonal drug that you can take orally but topical application has fewer side effects. It's not available everywhere but I get mine from city skin clinic, you deal with the dermatologists by email.

LostInAMist · 03/03/2025 20:12

Well, this is going good... Put a serum sheet mask on, and the dog has lost her mind at me 😅

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 03/03/2025 20:39

@LostInAMist mine would try and lick it off, he tries to lick my fake tan off 🙈.

I feel a bit more glowy now as I managed to squeeze in half an hours pole dancing. It’s amazing how much better I feel, I was in such a bad mood before 😂. I’ve also drunk 2l of water out of my new fake Stanley cup but also managed to stab the roof of my mouth by drinking from the straw when I was getting into the car 🙈.

WearyAuldWumman · 03/03/2025 21:13

Managed to get a cancellation and had the first half of my root canal treatment today... That's the ancient root filling removed and a temp dressing in situ.

The original had been there so long that my dentist couldn't find it on his computer.

Junegirl15 · 03/03/2025 21:18

I am away with work now but have managed to start my gradual tan. And got a walk in. Will look into the suggestions for dealing with post menopausal spots! Still need to work on my diet more……

Cathy31 · 04/03/2025 12:41

Struggling a bit to shake off the virus/es I've had, baby not sleeping too well, so I'm feeling a bit run down, but I did an amazing yoga class this morning, and I've had a healthy breakfast and lunch today. I can't even remember what my goals/ plans were so going to reset tonight. Lent starts tomorrow, which seems like a good point to cut out some junk food - crisps for sure, since I always feel disgusting after eating them, and prob chocolate too since I eat a fair bit, even of the dark stuff.

notacooldad · 04/03/2025 13:17

I'm still doing well.
I'm 3rd week i with my insvalign treatment.
I've had my pedicure with gel toes this morning so feet are looking like they belong on a human again.
Threading, and hair need doing this week.
I've been going to reformer pilates twice a week.Depending on the instructor , it either kills me or chills me. Either way, it's good!
I'm feeling pretty ok!
