I didn’t scream😂 But the queue was incredibly long so while waiting I brought up the famous MN thread and I’d forgotten how funny it was. I was almost crying with laughter as I read it. DP was a bit WTF😭

Rome is fabulous btw.

👀👀 which thread is this?

Lilly11a · 20/02/2025 19:19

It is very cool( not to the extent I felt the need to scream ) but very difficult to find when you visit the Vatican.

I went with mum last year we took 3 wrong turns before finding it .

Ps the cafe in the Vatican gardens is very good value

Pedallleur · 20/02/2025 19:23

I was astonished you could meet The Pope. I didn't but the fact you and I could buy a ticket and meet him was startling to me. He is a world leader so you would think access would be limited.

ElsaMars · 20/02/2025 19:32

After about 3 hours traipsing around the building to get to the Sistine chapel, I wanted to bloody scream. Beautiful, but come on. Up and down wooden stairs, through different rooms, it went on and on, and on. I just wanted to escape after a while but there was no route out, just plodding forward with the promise of the chapel at the end 😂

Davros · 20/02/2025 19:33

Did that thread make it into classics? It was bloody brilliant

ChickenSlims · 20/02/2025 19:34

I can't believe that thread was 7 years ago!

Eastie77Returns · 20/02/2025 19:38

That thread is in Classics and is hands down one of the funniest ones to ever grace MN.

@ElsaMars @Lilly11a I genuinely felt like crying/screaming/shouting by the time we found the blasted Chapel. What a mission😂

7 years 😳?!

Eastie77Returns · 20/02/2025 19:42

7 years…time flies.

I think there was some doubt shed on the authenticity of it all but even if OP made some of it up, he/she was brilliant. It was the mention of other tourists having to console her and the embarrassed DP storming out that got me😂

theboffinsarecoming · 20/02/2025 19:50

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 20/02/2025 19:55

7 years.... i cant believe it!!!

i am now pondering how much of my life i have wasted on here

sciaticafanatica · 20/02/2025 19:56

I got a bollocking for talking to loud .
I hired a guide to take me straight to it and do the Vatican highlights.
I love Rome

Gosh yes! I instantly knew by the title what this thread was about. It's WFH that has done it for me.

Llamasarellovely · 20/02/2025 19:57

7 years! Fuck that was funny.

Peekingovertheparapet · 20/02/2025 19:58

The no pictures thing is because the Vatican sold the imagery rights to a Japanese company in the1980s 🤯

@Eastie77Returns did you die of boredom in the 5 million gift shops on the way out?

Loloj · 20/02/2025 19:59

Omg just read some of the old thread and I’m crying laughing 🤣

PorkHollywood · 20/02/2025 20:02

I loved that thread 😂

7 years though!

I didn’t mind the gift shops but was a bit taken aback at how aggressive some of the ticket touts are. DP is Italian and gave them short shrift but I noticed quite a few tourists being taken in by the ‘official’ guides who were steering them to the ticket stores where they could allegedly buy tickets to skip the line etc. I do think they should clamp down on it. There was virtually no sign of actual museum staff outside and just a handful of volunteers giving directions.
