I just had potato smilies, Bernard Matthews turkey unicorns and spaghetti hoops. It was bloody lovely. Does anyone else eat meals like this every so often

When dh is away I sometimes have a load of fish fingers (out of the freezer, supposed to be for visiting Gdcs) with baked beans and probably also a pack of microwave chips (also supposed to be emergency rations for starving Gdcs.)
I have pickled onion vinegar on the chips. Yum.

I'm a proper health food freak but I absolutely adore potato waffles and chicken Kievs.
Also beans and cheese on shit white toast 😅

Brenna24 · 16/02/2025 20:17

I like the occasional fish for her sandwich and today after a 3 hour walk on the beach I made a quick egg, beans and chips for everyone before I went to pick my friend up off the bus and drop her and her dog we had been dog sitting back home.

Eileen101 · 16/02/2025 20:19

Aaaaand there it is. Lighten up, like you only ever eat home cooked from raw ingredients.

Yes I do just like many other mums otherwise these types of food wouldnt exist. Obviously not all the time but my children enjoy a varied balanced diet. we also sometimes have a takeaway just like lots of other families.

I has scrambled eggs on toast for tea. It was delicious

december2020 · 16/02/2025 20:57

Sometimes my son has a happy meal, or a toad in the hole, most days he has healthy things like grilled chicken and vegetables with brown rice.
On a weekend he may have a donut, most days he has fruit, berries, carrot sticks, peppers and cucumber.

You got to let them have a bit of lax so nothing becomes weirdly taboo or a disorder. He loves peppers and fruit and requests them often even though he sometimes has unhealthier options on occasion.

(I know it wasn't the point of the thread - but before people start weighing in with what they deem you're allowed to feed your kids, you don't know their weekly diet and menu).

Ooh, yes. We had nuggets, alphabites and beans last week. Bloody lovely 😍

IOweMySanityToBasilParsley · 16/02/2025 21:56

Just to add, I'm 47, DDs 25 and 22, and DS 12. Bloody lovely 😁

murasaki · 16/02/2025 21:57

Potato waffles and fishfingers. Lovely.

Showercap22 · 16/02/2025 21:59

I love a turkey dinosaur. Our DD always has a tea like this Friday night so we can get a takeaway later on.
I always put a couple extra on the baking tray just for me.

Thelnebriati · 16/02/2025 22:00

I had a jam sandwich for pudding. With butter. And sometimes I have a fish finger and salad cream sandwich. I'd forgotten potato waffles existed, I'm going to buy some tomorrow.

RIPVPROG · 16/02/2025 22:02

Yes but I don't give it to DS! I love a fish finger sandwich, toasted bread, buttered, mayo, lettuce, fish fingers, ketchup, cheese.
I bought some turkey drummers a while ago on a nostalgia kick, they were so bland! I'm guessing the salt and e numbers aren't the same as they were in the nineties...

Neurotoxic · 16/02/2025 22:03

YANBU in principle but YABU for spaghetti hoops I can't stand them lol

I'm currently having potato waffles and a cheese and onion crispbake 😋
