To love a kids tea sometimes

I just had potato smilies, Bernard Matthews turkey unicorns and spaghetti hoops. It was bloody lovely. Does anyone else eat meals like this every so often

The quorn dino nuggets are very good - upf's as they are, they are great for a diorama on a plate.

My DC is a bit older (19) so we tend to put the meteors in - peas - sometimes there's stampede and the broccoli trees get knocked over, and a dino might get sadly squashed, ketchup is handy here, we use it for lava too, rather than gravy.

Oh so do I but only if I don't have to make it for anyone else

I don't like the Op tea suggestion ( only because it's not my thing) but I do love a bowl of cereal for a solo tea!

Haha yeah, I sometimes do it for ds for breakfast because I make the best soft boiled eggs, but if I’ve got the house to myself it’s my immediate easy dinner - no washing up or mess. They are my only requirements 😂
I don’t have nuggets or fish fingers, my dc are pretty much all grown up now!

crackofdoom · 17/02/2025 00:38

I used to love tinned Postman Pat spaghetti, because it had actual bicycles. Can you still get it? When I lived in Italy I always used to take a tin back after a trip home, just to scandalise all my friends.

OneFineDay13 · 17/02/2025 00:51

Yes I do this now and again, bung a load of hash browns in the air fryer with chicken dippers and beans. Amazeballs

PleaseAndThankYou12 · 17/02/2025 01:24

I have turkey dinos, smiley faces and spaghetti hoops probably once a week. It is so comforting!

Jaberwocky123 · 17/02/2025 01:56

I’m a brit living abroad dying hearing about all this delish food. I’d give anything for some baked beans on toast tonight. Can’t read any more!

I often have a 'toddler tea' when I'm on my own or if just one DC is home.

Fish fingers, chips and beans
Egg, chips and beans
Scrambled eggs on toast
Bowl of cereal
Jam sandwiches
Cheese toasties

None of which really count as proper 'adult dinners' but every so often it's a nice treat.

These things are lunches here.

ThePartingOfTheWays · 17/02/2025 07:44

Not really for tea, but I enjoy a fish finger lunch now and then.

Emmz1510 · 17/02/2025 10:44

Yep- I love a chicken nugget or turkey dinosaur!
I made turkey dinosaurs, waffle fries and beans for dd one day last week and my OH looked at it and said ‘that looks divine!’.

This is what is called “girl dinner” 😂

CheekyRaven · 17/02/2025 10:47

Pickled onion vinegar, is that the vinegar that onions live in?

frecklejuice · 17/02/2025 10:55

Fried eggs with a runny yolk on potato waffles with ketchup is amazing!

WashYourDamnRice · 17/02/2025 10:59

Fish finger sandwiches/beans on toast/scrambled egg on toast aren't kids meals imo.
I had fish fingers, potato faces, and beans the other day and it was bloody lovely.

BeaAndBen · 17/02/2025 11:02

Fish finger butties are bloody lovely. My deranged family don’t want them anymore, so I make them for myself when the others are out.

emanresu24 · 17/02/2025 11:05

I got some of those breaded freezer turkey drummers last year and was so disappointed, they tasted nothing like I remembered and went in the bin. I then tried some BirdsEye chicken dippers and they were disgusting too. I think they've changed the recipes as I loved them as a teen.

I've just snacked on some freezer hash browns and ketchup, it was delicious. Reading this thread has made me want to buy some cheap white bread and strawberry jam for a sandwich. The closest I've got in the house is lemon curd and wholemeal but it's just not the same. I love a junk tea or snack now and again.

Floranan · 17/02/2025 11:06

After being ill for the last week with a rather nasty chest infection, I hadn’t had more then a few bits of toast in that time. I shocked DH last night by asking for a dippy egg and soldiers

it was heaven, think I’ll try another today

cramptramp · 17/02/2025 11:07

I don't think that's a kids tea. It's just tea.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 17/02/2025 11:39

Yes, chicken nuggets and waffles with cheese on. Fishfinger sandwiches. Crispy pancakes and chips. Chips and egg. Sausage, chips and egg.

We invited our friend over for tea one night. We have a toddler and she is has never had children. She was made up with having beige food for tea!
Veggie nuggets chips and beans. I love a mini Kiev too.

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/02/2025 18:00

I LOVE those little Chicago town pizzas that you can microwave

Oooooh, baked beans on toast, fish finger sandwiches. Yum!

Since when has beans on toast been kids food 🤔

PinkTonic · 17/02/2025 18:15

I like fish fingers in a sandwich or M&S corned beef crisp bakes, home made air fryer chips and beans. My other dirty secret dinner is sweet and sour made with tempura chicken tenders but at least it has peppers, mushrooms and spring onions.

Disturbia81 · 17/02/2025 18:25

I love beige food tea haha.
What I don't understand is why women wait until husbands and partners are away to have it? Just eat whatever the hell you like, life is too short not to.
