This is all personal with Trump - he hates Zelensky because he wouldn’t dish the dirt on Hunter Biden. Zelensky did the honourable thing and never released the audio of Trump begging him for the info, I hope they release it everywhere now.

Things feel so unstable but genuine question does it count as WW3 when we in Europe and brave little Ukraine are on our own again Russia, China and the US?

Totally agree, we’ve run our military down to the bone over the last 30 years and so much of what we do have is tied to US tech contracts, etc. In a twisted way, investment in our own defence companies might be just the kick start our economy needs, but I dread to the think of the cost, monetary or otherwise.

Re the State Visit, there are ways of quietly rescinding it without actually doing so publicly- diary clashes, King not feeling great and needs a few months to get his strength up, etc. You never know, the Republicans might drop a spine and invoke the 25th before it has a chance to happen <ironic laugh>

As a general rule I’m against cutting foreign aid. It’s usually a red line for me when voting but if (and it’s a big if) that’s where the money needs to come from if we have to fight this war without the US then we have to use it.

You know, I reckon that Zelenskyy knew what he was getting into when he walked into the WH. He knew he'd never be able to agree with what Putin, I mean Scrotus, wants.

He simply knew that for the 'world stage' he had to be seen as 'willing' to bargain.

Absolutely. He was never going in for the flattery routine. I don’t think he’d have been able to pull it off. He has to just go in there and do what Zelensky does best - fighting for Ukrainians.

I am liking this trend of just going in there and correcting Trump when he is wrong. That’s the third time in a week.

China won't get involved, they don't need to - they own all the debt, Russia is (currently) depleted and having to import (soon to be dead) bodies from N. Korea, plus the population of Europe is greater than the USA. All they have to do create a European army. Simples.

He has risen so far above expectations its surreal.

We really need to start letting Ukraine use the weapons we are giving them properly and not only restricting them to being used inside Ukrainian territory. Germany in particular needs to get up to speed on that IIRC.
