I've just realised that JD Vance is the absolute dead spit of my dad at the same age. When he's with Atlas the German Shepherd the double doppelganger effect of Vance/Atlas, our dog/dad is quite uncanny. I'm going to lie down quietly now. Has anything like this happened in your life? (Lighthearted.)

My dad was a lovely man, btw and I realise that there's only so many different types of faces/phenotypes but it quite startled me. My dad didn't have Vance's big bustly bum through. He had the traditional Irish bony arse, which I have inherited. At least our backsides tell the two dynasties apart.

My dad looked a bit like Jerry Adam’s in the early 1980s - he shaved and changed his glasses as a result.

HoraceCope · 15/02/2025 18:48

my dad looked like James Garner, in the Rockford Files

LuluBlakey1 · 15/02/2025 18:50

My dad was regularly mistaken for the actor Robert Hardy in the 1970s and 80s and 90s-I can't remember much about it but my mam said it started when Robert Hardy played Siegfried Farnon, the vet in the original 'All Creatures Great and Small.' I can't remember that. My dad (shy man outside his family) was quite embarrassed by it.

I don't think it was unfortunate in terms of looks though.

FIL looked like Peter Sutcliffe and was interviewed by the police as he was a trunk driver and drove to Yorkshire a lot.

LunaNorth · 15/02/2025 19:11

My sister once dyed her hair ginger and kept getting mistaken for Anne Robinson.

Friendofdennis · 15/02/2025 19:12

A member of my family looked like Fred West

Friendofdennis · 15/02/2025 19:13

And another person in my family looks like Garry Glitter in his older years

Oh, did you also get the monthly family joke when watching Crimewatch and the photofit came on showing somebody vaguely Irish looking within the boundaries of the technology of the time and asking, "Is that you Dad?"

My Dad looks like Harold Bishop from Neighbours.

InWithThePlums · 15/02/2025 19:16

A member of my family looked like Neil Kinnock, and was Welsh. He was shouted at once by a member of the public.

InWithThePlums · 15/02/2025 19:19

OP made me google ‘j d Vance bum’.

Hollythedogwalker · 15/02/2025 19:22

My nan’s late husband looked uncannily like Stalin and the bloke they lived next door to was a dead ringer for Slobodan Milošević. More benignly, my dad was often told he looked like Cliff Thorburn

Redheadedstepchild · 15/02/2025 19:27

OP made me google ‘j d Vance bum’.

And how did you find it?

MrsCraigReid · 15/02/2025 19:29

(NC as this might be outing) DH looks like he could be one of The Proclaimers Grin
He's better looking but definitely looks similar, and I look a lot like Sharleen Spiteri (although that's a complimentary one, not negative at all)

Redheadedstepchild · 15/02/2025 19:29

Redheadedstepchild · 15/02/2025 19:27

And how did you find it?

Was it too big and bustly?

MrsCraigReid · 15/02/2025 19:30

@TobiasForgesContactLense what a lovely jolly looking chap he must be Smile

JudgeBread · 15/02/2025 19:34

My paternal great grandfather looked like fucking Ron Perlman.

My maternal gran is the literal spitting image of Angela Lansbury, it's actually eerie, but I don't think that's unfortunate as Angela was beautiful and I hope I get those genes rather than the big old Shoebill face from the other side.

overwork · 15/02/2025 19:35

My partner looks like yet another Boris love child. He changed his hair and facial hair to stop the comparisons

Reddog1 · 15/02/2025 19:35

Colleague looks like Brian Capron - which is a good thing - but when Capron was Richard Hillman in Corrie, not so much 😆

Watto1 · 15/02/2025 19:37

My driving instructor was the image of Ian Paisley

MoonWoman69 · 15/02/2025 19:40

At the height of his spree, my dad looked uncannily like the Yorkshire Ripper and was questioned a few times. He'd bought a house to renovate and sell on. The woman next door to the house kept reporting my dad for being the Ripper. He ended up shaving off his beard!

WellsAndThistles · 15/02/2025 19:41

Serial killer Dennis Nilson and Robert Peston (my guilty pleasure too 😂).

Poppymeldrum · 15/02/2025 19:42

My brother is the image of Joey Essex and my other brothers mate is the image of Peter Andre

Oddly, the Joey Essex lookalike, has a twin and he doesn't look anything like JE (non identical twins)

One has long hair and the other short
