Oh, yes - the posters of David Cassidy. They’d give you the bottom half of the poster one week, then you’d have to wait a week to get the top half the in the next issue!

Another Bunty - Jackie - J17 girl here (mid 50’s)

J17 was truly groundbreaking, I remember buying the very first edition with a girl in boxing gloves on the front

I loved Jackie. Also Fab 208. Anyone remember that?

Yes! FAB 208 with all the DJs from Radio Caroline and pictures of the heart throb actors from TV programmes like High Chapparal, The Virginian etc.

😄

Loved Jackie! I appeared in ad edition of just seventeen with my bestie back in the day, when they had their s'Spy' feature - managed to get hold of an old copy, to show my daughter!

Hotafternoon · 07/02/2025 20:57

I went from Bunty and Judy to Jackie and I also got one called I think, Valentine.

Ahh yes, Twinkle to Bunty to Jackie, there was a Mandy I think as well

Do you remember the paper dolls you cut out if the back page with the outfits you hung over the doll with little flaps

Yes I had Mandy as well

BooseysMom · 07/02/2025 20:57

I had Twinkle, Look In and Jackie. I remember writing to Jackie saying something like don't let Steve get his grubby hands on my Toblerone! They then sent me a huge Toblerone in the post and I was over the moon!
I so miss those days which seem so innocent now.

suburburban · 07/02/2025 20:58

There was this dreadful article about Valentines in Jackie

Did the postman pass you by.

My Dad thought he was being funny and said yes when he saw me reading it

I think I was about 13

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 07/02/2025 20:59

I was in a Blue Jeans photo story in 1978!

OneTwinklyPlumBeaker · 07/02/2025 20:59

I learnt so much from Cathy and Claire and the Dear Doctor column.

TennisWithDeborah · 07/02/2025 21:00

I’d love to see some 1980s print ads again.

witwatwoo · 07/02/2025 21:03

I once sent a 'last Rolo' in a box to a boy from an ad in Jackie

Beano to Bunty to Jackie. Lived for Jackie and the fashion, make up articles. I loved make up (never wear it now!) and was the proud owner of Cheeky Chops stick blusher and a Mary Quant tin of crayons you could use as eye shadow, lip stick etc.
Im 67 now and Jackie was my guide to all things teenage.

thenightsky · 07/02/2025 21:24

I bought my first one in 1973 or 74 I think. It had a free red plastic heart badge that you could pull apart to show whether you were heart broken (single) or in a relationship (heart complete).

After a year of buying, my room was completely papered with centre spreads of David Essex, David Cassidy, Marc Bolan, the Osmans.

AnnieMay55 · 07/02/2025 21:29

I also went from Bunty to Jackie. I loved the figures in Bunty to cut out and dress on the back page. Jackie seemed really grown up when I moved onto that at around 10 or 11. I also remember getting the first copy of a Lady Penelope magazine. It had a free gift of a signet ring with a back to front P. You had to use it if you wrote into the magazine. This was about 1966, I'm not sure how long the magazine lasted.

Oh yes I'm another one who progressed from Bunty to Jackie!
Jackie day was the highlight of my week!

Yes me too. And then I think I moved onto New Musical Express.

pictoosh · 07/02/2025 21:32

I won a competition in Jackie and got £100 to spend in Littlewoods. I bought a hifi system with it.

Id forgotten about the Lady Penelope magazine. I also had a Lady Penelope outfit of red, black and white plastic dress with white plastic boots. I think my Mum and Dad ordered it from the magazine for my Christmas present one year.
Happy days!

Stressheadshouldbeinbed · 07/02/2025 21:56

Yes!
Even now I read my old annuals when I can’t sleep; I love the photo stories!

YourWinter · 07/02/2025 22:00

I’m 68 and I absolutely loved Jackie magazine. I’d had Mandy before then, my friend had Bunty which I didn’t like. I moved on to Valentine, then Cosmopolitan, though I might have left home by then (I moved into a bedsit at 19), I don’t think my mother would have coped either Cosmopolitan in her house!

Tchagra · 07/02/2025 22:06

Photo love...any one remember that mag? I used it love it, it was bloody awful 😄. My mum heartily disapproved so I had to buy and read it illicitly which of course made it more appealing. But what twaddle it was

ChanelBoucle · 07/02/2025 22:11

I was recently given a Jackie anniversary issue. Was so nostalgic 😍

I had a freebie turquoise comb with nobbles on it, used it for years. David Cassidy and Marc Bolan on my walls.

I also bought Melody Maker and New Musical Express.
