Talking of the NHS. DH has been having excellent community care now he’s out of hospital. Unfortunately he has a couple of health conditions and people have been coming to the house to do blood tests etc. He has a carer coming to the house to give him a bed bath.

That's good.

And how are you?

Greens more popular than Reform Ltd among 18-24 year olds.

Haven't seen that mentioned in the MSM...

The Greens are very popular with my students and also LibDems so the fees thing is forgotten. Some of the boys are Reform types but those tend to be the ones below voting age. Those who are well informed like Jess P in particular and generally admire Starmer's law background. I showed some pics a while back of politicians and they recognised all the recent Tory PMs , David Cameron and Corbyn. Most of them didn't recognise Blair...

I can’t lie it’s not easy. DS and I are dividing duties. DH can’t move at all and it must be very frustrating. He’s sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room.

I bet he's bored and frustrated, @derxa but it sounds like he's being well looked after and you're not left having to juggle all his care and your work, yourself.

PandoraSox · 14/01/2025 21:06

Poor bloke @derxa and poor you. I know how hard it is when someone is basically bedbound. How long before he is expected to heal?

BIossomtoes · 14/01/2025 21:07

Hope he improves very soon @derxa and it’s good to hear you’re bearing up.

Not sure. His ankle is broken in three places.

itsgettingweird · 14/01/2025 21:30

Oh Derxa what a stress for you all. Flowers

I wouldn’t worry about Reform. Implosion and shunning inevitable.

Have you ever seen a UKIP/Reform gathering? Really weird and unpleasant people. This will be exposed over the next few years

Whatever you think of Tories they are broadly members of the human race. Their outliers are unpalatable, sure, but so are Labour’s, the Libs’, the SNP’s and the Greens’.

Well now that the Vulcan John Redwood has retired, I suppose the Tories now have no aliens in their parliamentary party I suppose. And no-one who can remember life under the previous King Charles either now Mr Rees-Mogg is talking to almost no-one on GB News.

Glad the NHS is doing its thing for you @derxa and that Mr. Derxa is getting good care. Hope it all resolved sooner rather than later (though I have a friend who’s broken ankle turned into a bit of a saga which I won’t share…).

Marazion marshes at dusk - people come from miles around and park up - it's wondrous

Did you mean to attach a picture?

We used to go to Marazion when I was a small child.

That’s a bit harsh.

You don’t get much more weird and obsessive than Jeremy Corbyn - no longer Labour, but was, after all, its last leader; or more worryingly volatile than Gordon Brown; or more Hammer Horror sinister than Peter Mandelson - who’s now our man in Washington, incredibly.

And as for robots… I see your Redwood and raise you…Starmer! Except of course Redwood is a Fellow of All Souls and Starmer is a graduate of Leeds Uni (no, his BCL doesn’t make him Oxon).

Mumsnet leftists bring down government minister shock

Something out of that would make a splendid thread title if only we were closer to that point!

It’s alright. We’ve gone through worse. In three months it will be better

Llttledrummergirl · 14/01/2025 22:29

I know my my experience working in a gp surgery (dragon receptionist), how amazing the district nurses are. If yours are anything like the ones I worked with, the care will be fantastic. I hope his recovery goes well Derxa. Has he got things to do while he's laid up? Puzzles, model planes, paint by numbers? Anything to keep his brain active.

Has that cat just farted and then tried to blame you?

PickAChew · 14/01/2025 23:31

Graduating from Leeds didn't seem to do Starmer's prospects any harm even if it is - shock! Horror! - up north.

Evenstar · 14/01/2025 23:33

@PickAChew he often has that expression, he is half Bengal and it’s the shape of his face I think 😂

Quite. I never realised not going to Oxford was so shameful.

Well, quite. Classist snobbery in action.

countrygirl99 · 15/01/2025 00:21

I never said it was. I just pointed out that John ‘Vulcan’ Redwood has the rare intellectual distinction of being a Fellow of All Souls, and that the equally stiff and robotic Starmer doesn’t. But then very few do.

MaybeNotBob · 15/01/2025 07:42

It really does demonstrate that the "establishment" has been pulling the wool over the eyes of the "plebs" for such a long time that someone as mentally deficient as Redwood can be considered an "intellectual" simply because of the elitist path he was given through education...
