Mumsnet leftists bring down government minister shock

Well we get blamed for everything else 🤣🤣🤣

PandoraSox · 14/01/2025 17:10

But I thought we were brain-dead fluffballs who support everything about and everyone in the Labour government?

I need a lie down to recalibrate.

But is Starmer Superman ? 😂

cardibach · 14/01/2025 17:37

A friend of m8ne who is left wing (same views as me I’d say - definitely left rather than centre) has posted a thing about the state of A&E and saying the government should be forced to watch ‘Nye’ to remind them the NHS is about dignity. I wanted to comment - ‘the government? Or the previous government? What do you especially them to do in 6 months?’ But it didn’t seem worth it. She criticises Starmer all the time.

I agree,

I don't always fully comprehend it first time (dyslexic) but I love reading your posts and then spending time working out the meaning. You have a lovely writing style.

Same here, keeps me out of mischief & I learn new words all the time.

Maybe Bananaman.

Or Supertato & sainted Kemi is Evil Pea (I watch far more CBeebies than I should)

Llttledrummergirl · 14/01/2025 18:02

It's refreshing to see a minister doing the right thing. It's good she didn't break the ministerial code. These are two things that were much lacking in the previous government.

My DD works in the NHS now, none of her colleagues blame Labour, the issues have been going on and getting worse for many years.

However, what does worry me are the number of my leftie friends who now think Reform should be given a chance, two very keen remainers also would vote Reform, i asked "How?? what about brexit!!" and their reply was "thats over, Starmer wont even rejoin Erasmus so any form of softening brexit wont happen"

dontcallmelen · 14/01/2025 18:05

That’s a bit worrying Alexandra2001 a huge leap of thought process

DuncinToffee · 14/01/2025 18:08

I can only assume they haven't looked at any of Reform's policies

Terrifying, isn’t it?

Thus underscoring the suggestion that Farage is really keen not to have Brexit on his cv. He can slime the blame onto Labour who have done fuck all to resist it publicly.

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2025 18:16

I imagine the thinking is that Reform have 'clean hands' and are policy light they can be whatever the voter wants them to be. Very much like Brexit.
No doubt we would end up with Thats Not My Reform.

Which is why Labour should be talking about Brexit.

Edited

I wouldn’t worry about Reform. Implosion and shunning inevitable.

Have you ever seen a UKIP/Reform gathering? Really weird and unpleasant people. This will be exposed over the next few years

Whatever you think of Tories they are broadly members of the human race. Their outliers are unpalatable, sure, but so are Labour’s, the Libs’, the SNP’s and the Greens’.

TaffetaRustle · 14/01/2025 19:42

@cardibach well I'd say all governments.

The utter foul state the hospitals around me were in during the last years of a long labour tenure left women in dire and dying and dead straights.

I fully believe the NHS needs lifting out of party politics.

I don't think we can ever be complacent about the far right.

MaybeNotBob · 14/01/2025 19:56

Greens more popular than Reform Ltd among 18-24 year olds.

Haven't seen that mentioned in the MSM...

Your hospitals were a rare exception then. The NHS was in the best shape it’s ever been in 2010 - short waiting lists, GP appointments within 24 hours, over 90% success against the four hour A&E target and a 70% public satisfaction level, it currently barely scrapes 20%. It was the standout success story of the Blair/Brown governments.

derxa · 14/01/2025 20:38

Talking of the NHS. DH has been having excellent community care now he’s out of hospital. Unfortunately he has a couple of health conditions and people have been coming to the house to do blood tests etc. He has a carer coming to the house to give him a bed bath.
