What are the stereotypes that surround your job? (LIghthearted)

Inspired by recent threads. Are you an AI level of empathy PIP assessor? A misogynistic policeman? A somewhat silly spy? A socially awkward IT person?

I've been a "Too young" nanny/au pair, A tour guide who is "Just having a free holiday" a barmaid...etc...

All nurses are party animals though...(just to get you all going)

And are they true? Or not?

I work in IT and the socially awkward "Moss" from the IT Crowd stereotype holds true!

twinkletoesimnot · 31/12/2024 19:45

We get ALL the holidays and only work 8.30 -3.30.... if only!

Librarians: Bun, cardigan, glasses, no fun, (and that's just the boys). While we sometimes cosplay as stereotypical librarians we're mostly overeducated weirdos with niche hobbies, broad minds, and an addiction to snack foods, wondering how we ended up working here when we only came in to borrow a book... (We have more PhDs in the lower payscales than in management)

Librarians have come a long way since Mrs Smithers The Spinster at the Municipal Library with Mr Tibbles the cat.

We can read people’s minds.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 31/12/2024 20:33

Old tweed-wearing white man.

Mainly not true any more.

I am cackling at the turn this thread has taken. Not even slightly sorry 😁

AgeingDoc · 31/12/2024 20:43

I'm allegedly a soduko expert who chose my speciality so that I didn’t have to talk to patients.

Dueanamechange2025 · 31/12/2024 20:45

I make tea and shag the boss.

Well, you've given away your occupation straightaway, in this new edition of "What's My Line" because you work for Lisa Johnson as her Facebook Mole. Busted! Bang To Rights!

Haha no, I’m an academic but that sounds much more exciting!

Sadly my job is so niche there aren't any stereotypes

Orangebadger · 31/12/2024 20:47

I'm allegedly very sexy, wear suspenders all the time and love a bit of dirty talking.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 31/12/2024 20:47

Support Worker.

I have no qualifications and do it because I’m unable to do anything else.
