What are the stereotypes that surround your job? (LIghthearted)

Inspired by recent threads. Are you an AI level of empathy PIP assessor? A misogynistic policeman? A somewhat silly spy? A socially awkward IT person?

I've been a "Too young" nanny/au pair, A tour guide who is "Just having a free holiday" a barmaid...etc...

All nurses are party animals though...(just to get you all going)

Duffel coats were apparently originally worn in the Navy (just googled it), but doubt they still are?

violetsunrise · 01/01/2025 00:12

Same. Care Assistant who’s “only in the job for the money” as if you’ve ever heard anything as laughable in your life. I also “don’t care”, have no qualifications and either spend all shift making cups of tea or cleaning bodily fluids - there is no inbetween apparently.

I wash things up and put stuff into trays, all whilst wearing a lab coat.

Operating theatre nurse?

I'm allegedly a soduko expert who chose my speciality so that I didn’t have to talk to patients.

Other people say they couldn't do my job because managing their own is hard work but at the same time a lot of people know how I should be doing my job, could do it better and would be within their rights to storm into my work place and tear me a new one if they think I'm doing it wrong.
Plus I'm a terrible whinger as are my colleagues.

Don't forget you're responsible for all the ills in society too - should have sorted them out in pshe

Over-paid, over-pensioned, under-qualified, know-nothing who just gets in the way. We should all be sacked as we contribute nothing.

I’m guessing works in a school reception/office.

FrenchFancie · 01/01/2025 08:44

That's it. It's a brilliant job. I love it.

I did want to tell the duffel coat owner to put their name in it though.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 01/01/2025 11:50

Dh and I were in Uni together, similar backgrounds. According to stereotype he is from old money, private school, silver spoon etc who pushes paper around and waffles while charging extortionate fees. I'm poorly educated working class, not very bright and doing something anyone could do (yet ironically most choose not to)

GP receptionist?

That's actually me....
