I don’t like any of them. I’m politically hornless but seeing this turd getting more and more popular would actually make me leave the country.

Let's hope the mainstream parties get their acts together and start developing policies that will appeal to the 4 million Reform voters.

Which policies would you particularly like to see the mainstream parties adopt?

Cross eyed yokels??? Really? FFS
Just vile

Apologies.

I should have said toothless dullards.

@DuncinToffee

"So pamper to them and don't upset them by calling out right wing rhetoric?

The Farage riots were just them being unhappy?

What is Reform's vision?"

OK let me help out then.

Firstly the riots were not started or organised by Farage or Reform. Referring to them as the "Farage Riots" is simply untrue unsubstantiated left wing angry rhetoric which undermines any rational argument from the get go.

Secondly having a concern on levels of immigration is completely separate to racism. To equate the two as the same thing is ill informed wrong and alienates ordinary voters.

Thirdly fascism in its desire to silence dissenting views and state ownership of the economy is actually more prevalent now in left wing politics than it is in the right wing.

Ah ok, poor misunderstood right wingers, it's all the fault of the lefties, got it

So what is Reform's vision?

No concerns about the fact that he didn’t say ‘no’ when someone said they’d pay him £70-odd quid to film a racist message and instead taking the money and saying the racist thing.

i thought there were laws about hate speech. Why hasn’t he been arrested if he’s been saying racist things?

Don’t know if it ever went to the police. Think the defence was it was a set-up and poor Nigel didn’t realise he was saying anything offensive.

Which would make him gullible and stupid.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/12/2024 17:03

I haven't seen anything about him for ages (bar this thread). Is this your social media algorithms causing chaos?!

He was all over the IHT farming threads as he participated in the march dressed in gentlemen farmer tweed.

u3ername · 28/12/2024 23:27

@Purplevelvetshoes It is what it is. You cannot solve a problem if you don't try and define it.
People who have been taught logic and reasoning can see through the likes of him. Can also see he is a mere puppet for the more powerful.
What do you think other parties can offer people who are voting based on their 'feeling'?

We need to heavily focus on quality education, as the lack of is failing the country at every level.

LutherVandrossessuit · 28/12/2024 23:28

Reforms vision? I'm not sure but then again I'm not sure of Labour's either or the Conservatives for that matter. Like I said before, I've never felt so disillusioned with British politics as I do now.

@noblegiraffe if you knew anything about hunting you'd know most involved are not toffs. The support for hunting in rural communities is massive.

Not in my rural community. Quite a few farmers hate the hunt and have signs up barring them from their land.

’Quality education’ often means left leaning politics because that’s how it’s always been - even more so in today’s climate. You’re uneducated if you don’t agree with left leaning politics - that’s what you mean. Unis & schools are rife with left leaning political agendas.

None uni educated people are clever too - working class people see what’s going on around them, what’s working for society, what isn’t, injustice. Are you saying police, electricians, plumbers, service suppliers ect.. are thick?

1dayatatime · 28/12/2024 23:41

@DuncinToffee

"So what is Reform's vision"

Well here is the policy link.

But to summarise it is a collection of:
Simplistic sound bite messages that sound appealing to many but are unworkable in practice (so a bit like Brexit). For example a policy of returning illegal migrants to France - what if France simply says "Non"?

It is underfunded and would require a major increase in Government debt that as Liz Truss found out and Rachel Reeves is finding out is not a road you really want to go down

Yes I really do think the Left wing have got a lot to answer for. The blanket covering of ‘racist’ when any calls for debate about immigration controls, concerns about terrorism when we are actually on extremely high alert is one of the many things that are driving us to a hard right government.

There has to be an honest discussion with out the relentless name calling from the left.

Do I want Reform in? No I fucking don’t but if we carry on this way we will get them - and you will have a part to play in that

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 28/12/2024 23:44

Hi there Kemi!

Fullfatandfortyplus · 28/12/2024 23:46

I think I’ll be voting reform at the next election. Rupert Lowe is fast become my favourite MP at the moment.

Yes he is asking a lot of the right questions - but we do not want Richard Tice as a leader I assure you.

Quality education doesn't mean politically-biased education, no.
However I imagine it's hard to teach kids equality and justice, and tell them fascism stands for that.

Yes it is always easier blaming others than owing your vote

The left made me do it Confused

Nigel Farage seems to care about the UK and about British culture and values. I can't see why some people have a problem with that.

Edited

Please expand these policies and values

What on earth are you talking about? Are you actually seeing what’s happening in the country? Why do you think people are going to reform? Serious question.

Yes it does in today’s climate. Let’s not pretend schools and universities are not politically biased - they always have been.

I think a lot of people need to learn the true meaning of fascism first.

Divastrout · 29/12/2024 00:09

What do you mean?

I think that the fact that this was a world war...and really its all there in the word world war. The sacrifices made by the commonwealth and other countries in the world has escaped this op!!
But we'll played for trying to explain

@Teddybear23

"If you can’t see what’s happening in this country"

What - the big upsurge in right wing disinformation and propaganda, rampant racism & xenophobia, conspiracy thinking, climate change denialism?

That?

I've got a Facebook account I set up two years ago that I intended to use for work related things. Never got round to it - didn't follow anyone, don't like, click on or respond to posts, but just look at it the feed now and again. Literally the entire feed is full of far right shite being promoted: vicious anti-trans spite, climate change denialist, & racist shite. Obviously there's money and organisation behind this - I've never seen anything like it, and I've been using social media for years and years. Constant stream of far right propaganda. Very, very disturbing.

Edited

Yes I've noticed this on my Facebook too, endless pushing of accounts featuring for instance a nostalgic look back at Britain but filled with hate in the comments.
It's ramped up massively since July.

dizzydizzydizzy · 29/12/2024 00:58

DC1 is still recovering from meeting Nigel's mum in Waitrose a few years ago.

Awful man.

FancyRedRobin · 29/12/2024 01:24

The internet is absolutely hideous at the moment and social media (X, Facebook, YouTube etc) is absolutely flooded with misinformation, racism, scaremongering lies.
I honestly don't know what governments can do about it. It seems that some foreign powers are waging cyber warfare to destabilise some countries (incl UK) and some of the billionaire class are bankrolling the botfarms and buying media sites etc. I am disgusted with the amount of influence that the super rich now have and how dangerously they wield that power. I'm also really scared of them.
