I don’t like any of them. I’m politically hornless but seeing this turd getting more and more popular would actually make me leave the country.

Why are you going on about fox hunting. I’m a farmer and wouldn’t allow the hunt on here. Having said that I’m not a fan of foxes either. They attack my lambs

Because this is a thread about Nigel Farage and he was out fox-hunting a few days ago.

rewilded · 28/12/2024 21:54

I remember when Boris was the Mayor of London, I said one day he will be PM and people scoffed. I remember when Rishi Sunak spoke during covid, I said one day he will be PM. Nigel Farage will be PM...

The UK is in a mess. If Farage can turn it around then fair play

i want a fairer country with economic growth and I want genuine refugees rather than economic migrants. Does this make me far right?

Yup, on Mumsnet that make you Tommy Robinson. The climate change narrative/ Net Zero religion is strong here. They don’t want economic growth nor immigration controls.

The Tory party is dead. It has moved to the centre politically and is much closer to Labour/ Lib Dem in its general outlook.

The claim was the fox-hunting is actually popular.

No the claim was that May lost due her support for Fox hunting. That is wrong.

He wasn’t fox hunting. Was he on a horse? I don’t support fox hunting but you’re talking nonsense. He just turns up at events he supports. Just like he turned up at the farmers protest.

Conservatives were responsible for Brexit. They are the ones who were in charge.
While Farage and Brexit Party did champion leaving, ultimately Cameron et al were ultimately the ones who ‘delivered’ what we got.

True but ukip put a huge amount of pressure on the Conservative Party, and Farage’s support of it, without clearly or accurately outlining the consequences shows what kind of politician he is.

It certainly formed part of her disastrous election campaign. Made her look completely out of touch. Have you forgotten?

This is classic Farage - those who support him aren't the type who have traditionally been involved in fox-hunting, but they will blindly defend him on this issue because he will tell them at fox-hunting is a part of our British culture that the "woke left" (and probably immigrants) have stolen from us. And before you know it, his working class and middle class supporters are backing fox-hunting, which ultimately only benefits the upper class.
He's not "for the people" but he has a way of convincing the people that they are for Farage and whatever he tells them, even things that are of no benefit to them.

Turkeys for Christmas.

Edited

He also has a pint of draught bitter - rather than his preference of G&T or wine - on the go whenever cameras are around when he's glad-handing a load of cross-eyed yokels in a pub.

Oh sorry, he turns up to fox hunts in ridiculous outfits and talks about how he supports fox hunting and wants to bring back foxhunting but you're right, he's not actually on a horse when he does it so it's all fine.

Sure, fox hunting is actually really popular and Farage actually has his finger on the pulse here

So Starmer wants to ban trail hunting but not a word against the truly appalling practice of salmon farming.
Noblegiraffe do you eat salmon? If so then you’re a complete hypocrite.

He is currently 5/2 favourite to become the next PM. With Nick Candy & Elon Musk prepared to bankroll Reform.

It's fairly irrelevant 4.5 years out.

I'm a huge Farage fan and I sincerely hope he's the next PM. Out country is becoming an absolute shit hole.

Because he's been so great up to now 🤷‍♀️

noblegiraffe · 28/12/2024 22:02

'Farage will give the people what they want'

Well actually, he wants to bring back fox hunting which the vast majority of the British public want to remain banned. So perhaps it is more about what Farage wants?

luckylavender · 28/12/2024 22:03

rewilded · 28/12/2024 17:00

Nigel Farage seems to care about the UK and about British culture and values. I can't see why some people have a problem with that.

Edited

Even though he lives in Brussels? The only thing Nigel cares about is Nigel.

38thparallel · 28/12/2024 22:06

Noblegiraffe do you have any views on Nigel Farage’s other policies or are you just obsessed with hunting?

And Farage is the champion for fishing? First as a no show MEP, then Brexit and now a no show MP at the latest debate.

"Sure, fox hunting is actually really popular and Farage actually has his finger on the pulse here "

Let's be honest if the anti fox hunting lobby was genuinely concerned about foxes then they would first be seeking to abolish fox gun hunts which kill way more foxes.

The real issue driving the anti fox hunting lobby is that it is seen as a "posh rich" activity largely by urban left wing liberals not any genuine concern for the foxes.

Either way there are a lot more pressing issues facing the country than foxes.

Let's hope the mainstream parties get their acts together and start developing policies that will appeal to the 4 million Reform voters.

🥴. He just turns up at events that he thinks support his agenda. He’s no more a fox hunter than I am. He’s a fake. I’ve no idea what you’re on about 🤣

SassK · 28/12/2024 22:11

Ringpeace · 28/12/2024 21:35

There are enough warnings from history to prove otherwise.

Think it can't happen here? It absolutely can.

Both these responses illustrate the hysterical bullshit I'm describing. The majority of Farage's propositions wouldn't make it into policy. Perhaps you should credit his supporters with a little more savvy?

I think there are many akin to myself, people who're just fed up of humouring sanctimonious bores who're too thick to grasp that their 'with me or against me' conduct is entirely antithetical to broad/liberal thinking.

@luckylavender

"Even though he lives in Brussels? The only thing Nigel cares about is Nigel."

Farage lives in Single Street, Bromley near his mother.

There's loads of stuff to criticise Farage about so there's no need to make stuff up.

38thparallel · 28/12/2024 22:18

The real issue driving the anti fox hunting lobby is that it is seen as a "posh rich" activity largely by urban left wing liberals not any genuine concern for the foxes.

Of course it is - as is evident by remarks like ‘ridiculous outfits’. It’s always been a class war issue - if that’s not the case why aren’t hunt saboteurs sabotaging factory farms?
Also, why is fishing not banned too?
