I don’t like any of them. I’m politically hornless but seeing this turd getting more and more popular would actually make me leave the country.

@Parker231 Where do you live? How does UK politics affects you? Why you are so invested?

This is classic Farage - those who support him aren't the type who have traditionally been involved in fox-hunting, but they will blindly defend him on this issue because he will tell them at fox-hunting is a part of our British culture that the "woke left" (and probably immigrants) have stolen from us. And before you know it, his working class and middle class supporters are backing fox-hunting, which ultimately only benefits the upper class.
He's not "for the people" but he has a way of convincing the people that they are for Farage and whatever he tells them, even things that are of no benefit to them.

Turkeys for Christmas.

Hunting is the absolute backbone of the countryside. Everyone from the lord lieutenant to the local farmer does it, it isn't a pursuit for posh people only and it's all trail hunting now, no foxes involved. Until Labour ban that too. And this is why a poll has just predicted they will lose about 80 seats to reform were an election to be held tomorrow, they seem completely tone deaf to what they should be prioritizing and intent on destroying the countryside.

WanderingDreamingSpires · 28/12/2024 21:17

Actually it was the whole 'we'll make people pay for their end of life care to end the care crisis!' Manifesto commitment.

And no one wants to contemplate doing that, so that's why she lost a potential 100 seat majority.

Actually people were definitely also aghast at bringing back fox hunting.

Me and DH have agreed that if he ever becomes PM we are leaving The UK.
Luckily DH has an EU passport so we can

I'm waiting for Scotland to get independence then we will go there.

You are utterly delusional or stupendously naive if you think it's "all trail hunting now".

I have just become a member of Reform. What's the problem?

You really have to ask 🤔 why have you joined them? Serious question.

I live in Canada now but only left the uk a couple of years ago - still have a business and property there. Came to the uk when I was 5.

It'll be an absolutely huge shit hole then . . .

Wait, wait! Not so hasty, there! Look how much he's done for Clacton since he became their MP 👀

J/k

Locutus2000 · 28/12/2024 19:41

I'd find it amusing (given it would annoy the frauds and their simpering/bleeding heart supporters) were he to become a serious contender.

Sleepwalking into fascism to 'own the libs'. Fuck me.

Bit dramatic.

No, it was the care tax.

derxa · 28/12/2024 21:32

On here every Brexit and Reform voter is thick and not a ‘critical thinker’. The Labour voters on here live in very naice areas and are comfortably off. Immigration issues don’t affect them.

JRSKSSBH · 28/12/2024 21:34

LutherVandrossessuit · 28/12/2024 20:05

Over 4 million people voted for Reform. Instead of trying to understand their concerns let's take the easy way out and call them names.

Yup, that seems to be the solution. Slag them off and try to assume some kind of higher moral, intellectual ground. I would expect Reform to win a large portion of votes in 2029. The feather will fly on Mumsnet.

Ringpeace · 28/12/2024 21:35

SassK · 28/12/2024 21:30

Bit dramatic.

There are enough warnings from history to prove otherwise.

Think it can't happen here? It absolutely can.

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 28/12/2024 21:38

I remember when Blair got in and I voted for him.
I was working in an old people's home and it was so bad I couldn't understand why there was such a fuss over fox hunting (which I did disagree with) when people were being treated awfully in care..
I was 17.

Sure, fox hunting is actually really popular and Farage actually has his finger on the pulse here Hmm

I really don’t get the push back against net zero. Putting aside all the environmental arguments it’s eminently sensible for us, as in the UK, to reduce our dependency on fuel that is depleting at pace and largely only available from hostile states.

so many people partied at the promise of ‘sovereignty’ for Brexit, but get their hackles raised at the suggestion that changing some habits and expectations would free us from subservience to nations we’d rather not think to deeply about.

So you do understand that the kit for solar farms, wind turbines, etc will be imported. The ‘green’ jobs won’t be created here but in China. When the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine, where will our energy come from? Imported oil and gas. We already have the highest electricity prices in the world and they are set to increase. How do you think that will affect our industrial base? We’ll end up with rolling power cuts, sky high bills, increased food prices and still be dependent on foreign despots for our fossil fuels.

Walrusdress · 28/12/2024 21:45

I really can't wait for him to become PM, the country is at breaking point.

JRSKSSBH · 28/12/2024 21:46

Not to mention the destruction of N sea oil and gas industries causing the loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs and millions of pounds in tax revenues. Miliband is a mad ideologue taking us down a terrifying path.

1dayatatime · 28/12/2024 21:47

@LutherVandrossessuit

"It doesn't matter that they are 'thick' in your eyes. Whether you are 'thick' or 'educated' your vote has just as much weight as anyone else's. The 'thick' person leads a very different life to you - he doesn't need to justify his vote to anyone, he doesn't have to read a manifesto, he doesn't need to tell you why he's voting the way he does. We need to UNDERSTAND WHY REFORM GETS HIS VOTE. Why is Labour not getting his vote?"

A good summary and all the while the concerns of Reform voters are dismissed as racist or thick then their support will increase.

Voters want change, they want politicians to do something and come 2029 being offered the same steady managed decline that happened in the previous 5 years won't win elections.

The point was why May lost. Go back and reread those history books and stop posting colourful (but irrelevant) graphs.

Unless you have a graph correlating votes lost due to her social care policy.

Why are you going on about fox hunting. I’m a farmer and wouldn’t allow the hunt on here. Having said that I’m not a fan of foxes either. They attack my lambs

The claim was the fox-hunting is actually popular.
