I have insomnia. Despite being on 15mg mirtazipine, which is supposed to knock me out, my brain just will not give in!

fivebyfivebuffy · 28/12/2024 02:40

Ovary pain (endometriosis)
The morphine is helping a little

WellsAndThistles · 28/12/2024 02:41

On the sofa as DH snoring, I could go in the spare room but quite like snuggling on the sofa!

I never seem to sleep much, didn't get to sleep until 7am yesterday and was up at 10am yet here I am again wide awake at 2.30am.

GP has recently carried out a huge range of blood tests to rule out thyroid, menopause and God knows what else and it would appear I'm the picture of health.

Ihateslugs · 28/12/2024 02:43

My sister and BIL woke me up this morning at 3.15 getting ready to leave for a flight back to the US after a lovely week with me, I knew their taxi was booked for 4.30am so was restless anyway in case they did not wake up! After I’d waved them off, I obviously went back to bed and did not wake up until after 1pm - hence not tired now!

But not worried, it’s lovely to have visitors but it’s also lovely having the house to myself!

Soonenough · 28/12/2024 02:46

I too have had flu since Xmas Day . Sleep pattern all over the place. But I have horrible gassy pains now that are preventing me from nodding off . Think it must be all the painkillers , cough medicine and Lemsip irritating my stomach . Bah humbug .

JollyGoldMentor · 28/12/2024 02:48

I’m the same - I’m assuming it’s the cough! I’ve never noticed a cough causing wind before but it’s happening this time.

magicalmrmistoffelees · 28/12/2024 02:49

Worrying.

Huggies98 · 28/12/2024 02:53

Just insomnia. Finally fell asleep at midnight, to wake an hour later just after 1am and I’ve been laid awake since.

Chronic pain - it’s a total pain! Hope you all can rest if not sleep.

Just had to manually drain the washing machine and unclog the drain pump which was all tangled up with something unidentifiable.
Could have been sorted hours ago when I got home at 11pm, but DH decided not to mention that an error alarm had gone off while I was out. He just switched the machine off because he “didn’t like the noise it was making” (without noting what the error code was) and said nothing to me about it. He decided actually that the best time to mention it was after I had nodded off on the sofa then woken up again, and was heading sleepily up to bed.
Anyway, some investigation, a YouTube clip and a lot of dirty water later and I think I’ve sorted it, but now am wide awake.

SoftandQuiet · 28/12/2024 02:59

Heartburn after getting takeaway burger and chips after work at 9pm. Too much fat, too late at night! Had some gaviscon so setting a bit now.

Negroany · 28/12/2024 03:00

Flew back from holiday, four hour delay due to the fog, so I've just got home. Also woke up with a cold today so can't breathe and I think my eardrum burst on the flight due to being so blocked up (I get a lot of ear infections, so I'm familiar with the experience), plus we had a very long slow descent also due to fog. Was a ghastly flight, extremely hot, and a few arseholes being horrible to the staff (who had the police there to meet them when we landed!).

OneLoyalGreyFish · 28/12/2024 03:01

I always stay up for at least a couple of hours after my husband goes to bed, I cross stitch and watch ‘my’ tv programmes. But tonight I started scrolling through Mumsnet and here I am 2 hours after I was about to go to bed at 1am! Can hardly keep my eyes open haha

baroqueandblue · 28/12/2024 03:01

Dire toothache. It came on gradually yesterday afternoon/evening. Thought it was a migraine at first, but despite my taking cocodamol 30/500mg (x2) at 10.30pm, it woke me up half an hour ago. Feels like a rusty nail has been hammered into my right-side back teeth - even dreamed I was at the dentist before I woke up!

Inthebathagain · 28/12/2024 03:03

Death of a loved elderly relative today.

This meant I napped for a couple of hours earlier, meaning I'm not tired now.

Add in a (non) issue by a drama llama which a close friend is super worried about, and affects me by proxy.

I know doom scrolling is keeping me awake more, but I just don't feel tired at all.

Morning to all of you in the Southern Hemisphere! ☀️

And thank you to all of you working night shifts 💐

Very mundane reason here. Dog woke me to go out to the loo.

Frangywangywoowah · 28/12/2024 03:18

I'm awake because I want to be alone to have a few drinks and I'm sad. I'm sad my inlaws had to have their dog put down today. A dog that's like a sister to our dog. This is the 2nd dog they've lost in 4 months.
It keeps me up as I just can't imagine facing that day.

madeofmore · 28/12/2024 03:19

I'm awake because in true batshit wtfuckery, I received some very horrible, downright nasty and unhinged messages from someone around 1 am. Not the first from them despite me not responding. They have form for all sorts of shit so wondering how far they will take things.

ZippyCat · 28/12/2024 03:20

Because I suffer insomnia soo bad

I'm on my mum's sofa and I just remembered something I was meant to do last week!
