Had a 7+ hour drive in the fog- should have been about 4 hours, but loads of accidents/ delays due to said fog. Absolutely knackered, went to bed at about 9.30pm, slept for 3 hours and now wide awake again!

Apparently I've "lost" the house i was supposed to be buying as i discovered it was back on Rightmove this afternoon. Feel soooo let down by my EA and solicitor who kept saying my buyer was fine/within normal time limits every time I questioned why the process was taking so long. Tonight my stomach is busy churning away and my mind is going "aaarrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!" 😱

Hope you all find some form of relief/sleep tonight 😴

Oh that is awful. I hope things work out for you x

Yes! I was misdiagnosed by GP as congestion and an audiologist said it was wax. Finally saw an ENT that said I had severe/profound loss in that ear and there was nothing he could do. Plus I'd probably never know the reason why. I did have a CT to rule out tumours. For the most part I tune it out (though it's always there) it's just really getting to me. I sorry it happened to your daughter. Seems to be more common now with links to COVID etc. GPs are really lacking in this area too. If I had of been diagnosed earlier steroids may have helped.

The lack of awareness amongst HCPs is a disgrace, DD basically had the same story! Audiologist blamed it on wax and then the GP brushed her off and implied that she was being over dramatic - apparently her eardrum was ‘traumatised’ from the wax and her hearing would miraculously come back on its own within a few days. Even when I pushed for a private ENT referral so that she could be seen the next day (we are insured) he declined and said it wasn’t necessary🤦‍♀️

Finally got her seen by an ENT on day 5 post loss and immediately he confirmed that our suspicions re: SSHL had been correct all along. He was very angry that she had been dismissed and things hadn’t been caught sooner. Did the course of oral steroids which did give her some slight improvement but realistically she was never going to gain all of it back since the 48 hr window for treatment had passed.

6 months on now and she’s doing + coping much better. She still struggles in loud places (Loop earplugs and noise cancelling earphones have been a godsend) but mostly manages the tinnitus well which is what bothered her most at the start. Have been advised to pursue medicolegal action but still undecided!

My son is a beacon of light. An old sole who’s done life before. We’re travelling the world one country at a time. We’ve planned milestone holidays for our family at 13 16 and 18. I’m in the process of writing him a book. Why I made the parenting choices i have , the goals and values I instilled in him , my reasons for giving him a private education, The true value of kindness etc. comforting words if he ever feels anxious. My wisdom and love for when I’m no longer here.

I've had the flu since Boxing day and I have been asleep since yesterday trying to get rid of it. I'll probably go back to sleep shortly after I've had some lemsip.

Try drinking beer I noticed an older lady drinking beer at a restaurant. It has good qualities apparently.

Does anyone know how many spoons of children’s nurofen I’m meant to take? 🙃

@JollyGoldMentor according to the product leaflet linked from here https://www.calpol.co.uk/our-products/calpol-infant-suspension, Infant Calpol has 120mg paracetamol per 5ml (teaspoon). The paracetamol tablets I have are 500mg, and you can take 1 or 2. So on that basis, you could take up to 8.3 teaspoons.

Nb, I am not a medical professional, nor do I have children so no experience of Infant Calpol. Please verify info yourself for safety.

Why take magnesium

Zebracat · 28/12/2024 02:34

Another sickie. I had a sudden severe headache with vomiting on Christmas Evening, admitted to hospital for a night. Very thankful for all the tests, but then they said it was a migraine and to just take any painkillers. They aren’t working. I know screens don’t help but I’m so bored and feel so unwell

anonny55 · 28/12/2024 02:34

Because I'm heavily pregnant and get up for a wee every 2hrs, then can't fall back asleep so have a little scroll

I found the nurofen which is 100mg per 5ml so I had 4 squirts from the syringe. Hoping for some relief very soon!
thank you for your research - 8 seems way too many for me to stomach!

lucky you.
Im guessing it’s lovely and hot.

For some weird reason our Melbourne friends came here ( UK ) for Christmas ….for the cold 😳😆

glittereyelash · 28/12/2024 02:36

I've listed all the awful things that have happened to me the past few years and I'm wondering if people just think I'm a compulsive liar because surely all things couldn't have happened to one person 🙃 This Christmas was horrendous. Next year has to be better surely.

Child was up all night last night as she's unwell, so we slept all day and now we're up all night again!

Well. She's asleep, I'm awake. Watching Squid Games as a nice calming pre bed activity!
