When did you Christmas tree go up? When will it come down?

Inspired by the many 'My tree is down' threads I've seen already.

Mine goes up on first Sunday in Dec, which made it the 1st Dec this year.

And it comes down on 1st Jan. We go back to work on 2nd Jan and I like it packed away and cleaned through the day before.

My Mum is a bit more traditional and leaves it up for the full 12 days of Christmas starting Christmas day.

My tree usually goes up mid December. This year, it didn't go up until 22nd, I finished decorating it a few hours before my daughter came home from uni.

She goes back next week and the tree will probably come down the next day.

This year, it went up around 10 days ago and I'll take it down on Jan 2nd.

I couldn't take it down on boxing day like some folks. I have a week of leftovers, cheese, board games, festive tv and general merriment to go and I love that it's against a backdrop of twinkly joy.

Early December and I’m bringing it down tomorrow. After Boxing Day, Christmas is over for me. I prefer the build up and I like a clean house for new year

MyStylish40s · 26/12/2024 16:14

Mine went up around December 1st, and I take it down either on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day

AdventFridgeOfShame · 26/12/2024 16:14

Up just in time for Solstice and down on the twelfth night.

Flustration · 26/12/2024 16:15

Up 7th December and down sometime between New Year's Day and the day before the DC go back to school.

BrunchBarBandit · 26/12/2024 16:15

Up on 2nd weekend in Dec and it stays up along with the decorations until 12th night.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 26/12/2024 16:16

This year it went up on 14 December, will take it down on 5 January as usual.

I4gotmyname · 26/12/2024 16:16

My tree /decs went up on 21st Dec. Coming down tomorrow or maybe tonight.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/12/2024 16:17

Ours went up on the 17th, just before DSis arrived from across the pond.

It will come down on the 6th Jan, as usual. It’s still Christmas until then!

Figgygal · 26/12/2024 16:18

It went up on the 1st due to necessity would have preferred the following weekend but was busy
Will come down 30th or 31st have nothing on those days

itsgettingweird · 26/12/2024 16:18

Mine went up slowly between 15-18th December.

Will all come down slowly 30/31st.

Topseyt123 · 26/12/2024 16:18

Ours went up mid December and will come down at New Year.

Zeery · 26/12/2024 16:19

Normally up first weekend of December and down before NYE.

this year due to various health factors it was up in November, as I had an operation and health things that meant I wouldn’t see it much over December, and it’s been taken down today as I really didn’t enjoy Christmas tbh and just want to move on.

Patienceinshortsupply · 26/12/2024 16:25

We've both been poorly so ours didn't go up till mid December, and I always remove all the decorations on New Years Day so it's a fresh start. I'm already pissed off with the tree though as I stupidly bought a huge one and the room feels very cluttered/had to move furniture around.

OneSnowyNightTime · 26/12/2024 16:29

It always goes up on the 1st of December. It's always come down sometime in the first week of January, but this year I'm thinking of taking it down before and starting the new year fresh. Not sure though. I've never done that before and am wondering if I'll miss having it up on New Year's Eve.

TreeBeMe · 26/12/2024 16:31

Mine went up 11th December which is around the normal time for us. We have extended family here on Saturday 28th so it will go down 29th or 30th again as usual. I do not like to see in the new year with a Christmas tree up and I don't like to leave it to the 31st if I can help it.

I pack it all away carefully so that the following Christmas it is easier to unpack, ie the staircase garland has all the baubles and lights secured and is folded up so no having to redecorate it the following year.

allmylifelong · 26/12/2024 16:32

It went up the 1st December. It will come down some time after New Year’s Day.

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 26/12/2024 16:33

Ours went up on the 15th. I take it down on my nearest day off to twelfth night, so this year the 5th. Lots of my younger colleagues prefer late Nov -Boxing day, but I like it up for New Year's Day.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 26/12/2024 16:33

Up on 15th December. Down on 2nd January. We always have a real tree, so it doesn't last too long.

Natsku · 26/12/2024 16:43

It went up on the 23rd (usually put it up the weekend before Christmas but OH wasn't happy with the tree he bought so wanted to go out and look for a better on on the 23rd) and will come down on the 6th as usual. Only time it came down earlier than that was when the cat decided to climb the tree and brought the whole thing crashing down and I just could not be arsed to get it back up and decorated again!

Midlifecrisisxamillion · 26/12/2024 17:25

Went up 30th Nov and will go down on the 1st as I'm back to work the next day.

2chocolateoranges · 26/12/2024 17:27

We put ours up early this year as we were going on holiday the 1st dec. tree was up last weekend in Nov and will take it down the 4th or 5th January before we all go back to work.

Frowningprovidence · 26/12/2024 17:32

Ours went up around the 15-18th. I can remember exactly. It will go down on 1 Jan because i like it down before I go back to work.

We often go the the 23rd to twelfth night though but it depends on how the holiday falls.
