When did you Christmas tree go up? When will it come down?

Inspired by the many 'My tree is down' threads I've seen already.

Mine goes up on first Sunday in Dec, which made it the 1st Dec this year.

And it comes down on 1st Jan. We go back to work on 2nd Jan and I like it packed away and cleaned through the day before.

My Mum is a bit more traditional and leaves it up for the full 12 days of Christmas starting Christmas day.

No, no, you need to put it up on Boxing Day.*

*For Christmas 2025

Why have you added yet another thread about fucking Christmas trees? "Inspired by" is a TAAT in any other words. Please try to be more original.

Goes up last weekend in November and goes down on 12th night. I would like to take it down on 2 Jan but DP likes it to stay up to the end.

Thewrongdoor · 26/12/2024 19:39

It goes up on Christmas Eve usually or thereabouts, and comes down on 6th Jan, but we keep some decorations up till early Feb.

MajorCarolDanvers · 26/12/2024 19:40

Went up about 6th December and will
come down 2/3 ish of January

tree is essential for Hogmanay.

Blarn · 26/12/2024 19:42

Sunday 22nd. Sunday 5th. We got it a bit late this year, usually goes up about the 18th.

bluebee17 · 26/12/2024 19:46

First weekend of December and it's all coming down tonight

Newbutoldfather · 26/12/2024 19:48

Up 12th December, will take it down Saturday 4th Jan probably.

h7htj392 · 26/12/2024 19:50

Went up on 13th Dec (a tad earlier than usual) and will come down on Twelfth Night.

StMarie4me · 26/12/2024 21:25

StressedQueen · 26/12/2024 21:26

Went up on December 1st and we'll take it down on about the 3rd of Janish but no exact date there

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/12/2024 21:26

30th Nov and 31st dec

HaddyAbrams · 26/12/2024 21:27

Mine went up on 21st. It will be up until 12th night.

Juliagreeneyes · 26/12/2024 21:27

This year we were away for a few days before Christmas, so it went up on the 22nd. Always take it down at Epiphany! I always pay for a charity tree disposal service to take it away and wood chip it and they come a couple of days after Twelfth Night, so it would be waiting in the garden until then anyway - so why would I take it down earlier! Enjoy it until the 6th is my policy!

rowanrome · 26/12/2024 21:31

Went up Christmas Eve and will be up until the 5th. I used to leave ours up longer, but we have a much nicer view where we live now so it should be the 5th. I do find taking it down upsetting though, so sometimes I go out and my family takes it down on their own.

frecklejuice · 26/12/2024 21:44

Tree up first weekend in December and I normally like it down by the 27th (Boxing Day if I can get away with it). Tomorrow we are busy though so I'll do it on Saturday.

leia24 · 26/12/2024 21:46

Put it up on 1st December, thinking about taking it down over next couple of days

DeathMetalMum · 26/12/2024 21:54

Ours normally goes up second weekend of December, we may have put it up on the 6th year though I can't remember. It will go down anytime between the 2nd and 6th Jan. Possibly the 2nd as I am not in work until the 3rd. I like it up for new years eve and day.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 26/12/2024 21:59

Same as you OP

Cattenberg · 26/12/2024 22:04

Up on 22nd December this year (maybe a week later than usual), down on 5th January.

I have no desire to start Christmas on 1st December - that’s the start of Advent!

marypoppinsreturns · 26/12/2024 22:07

Up mid December after my DC's birthday and down on 2nd Jan after New Year's Day.

Dionysusss · 26/12/2024 22:16

Tree and decorations go up 1st December and away on the 31st.

I like to spring clean as I'm packing everything away and start the new year with a clean house. ( I don't clean on new years day as I heard once doing laundry washes away good luck - so do zero cleaning to take no chances.)

Although last year we went on holiday for Christmas, arrived home on the fifth of January then apparently i took down all the lights both indoors and out by yanking them from the plug end and stuffing them into a bin bag. It took ages to unravel. This year I'm going to be more mindful so I don't fuck myself over for next year.

AmazingGraze · 26/12/2024 22:23

Mine didn’t go up till the 23rd. It’ll come down on the 2nd Jan.

RedRiverShore5 · 26/12/2024 22:24

Went up about 2 weeks ago, will come down New Year's Day
