When did you Christmas tree go up? When will it come down?

Inspired by the many 'My tree is down' threads I've seen already.

Mine goes up on first Sunday in Dec, which made it the 1st Dec this year.

And it comes down on 1st Jan. We go back to work on 2nd Jan and I like it packed away and cleaned through the day before.

My Mum is a bit more traditional and leaves it up for the full 12 days of Christmas starting Christmas day.

Ours went up the 2nd weekend in december and it will come down next week sometime, it's looking very droopy despite water.

MJconfessions · 26/12/2024 17:34

I’m keeping mine up for as long as possible, so probably some time in January. I haven’t had it out for long, plus I bought lots of new decorations this year, so don’t feel I have properly enjoyed it yet.

Goes up Christmas Eve
Comes down 12th Night

Went up on 14th December and will come down as usual on 1st or 2nd January.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/12/2024 17:40

Up first wknd in December, down early January. I’m not taking it down without having it up for a while! Love tinsel, twinkly lights etc

hopeishere · 26/12/2024 17:41

Goes up about the second weekend in December (I'd prefer the third but am overruled). Son on New Year's Day - helps with the mental cleanup for the new year. Keep the door wreath up to the 6th.

Whoarethoseguys · 26/12/2024 17:41

It comes down on 12th night.
I don't understand anyone who takes its down on boxing day. That's is still very much Christmas and for me the period between Christmas and new year is the best time.

mamaduckbone · 26/12/2024 17:43

This year it went up on the 7th - no fixed date, it's whichever weekend is convenient, but not too early as we have a real tree. It will come down on New Year's Day or the 2nd - I like it to still be up for NYE but like a fresh start and a good clean for the new year.

Inextremis · 26/12/2024 17:44

DH is not a fan of Christmas trees, so I have a one foot one (artificial, of course) that I put up in the kitchen purely for my own pleasure (that sounds a bit dodgy, but isn't!). It goes up Dec 1st, and comes down Jan 9th (his birthday is on the 8th). Same for all the draped tinsel/sparkly things/candles/flashing lights. I've done this for the past 25 + years, not about to change now!

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 26/12/2024 17:44

It's all only just up so will stay up until we get fed up of it

stargirl1701 · 26/12/2024 17:46

Ours went up on 24th December. It will come down on Twelfth Night. It's a Nordmann Fir so doesn't drop needles.

I would keep it up until Candlemas if DH would agree!

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 26/12/2024 17:47

1/12 - 5/01

tac10 · 26/12/2024 17:52

Ours went up the weekend of 7 Dec and comes down on 5 Jan (as usual)…

RampantIvy · 26/12/2024 17:58

Mid December
New Year's day

I like to keep Christmas at Christmas.

EcoCustard · 26/12/2024 18:06

Ours went up the 17th of December. It will come down on the 4th before I go back to work & my birthday on the 6th of January.

DifficultMiddleChild · 26/12/2024 18:10

22nd December until 12th night. Which is good for me as I decorated it then left for a week so I'll get to enjoy it when I get home.

BerriesCones · 26/12/2024 18:24

Early December to Early Jan.

Kitkat1523 · 26/12/2024 18:32

Up on 2nd december…,will come down on 30th….like to be clean and tidy to see the new year in

LostGhost · 26/12/2024 18:52

Went up the 1st November, we'll take it down either NYE or NYD, I like to start the new year fresh with a clean home

popandchoc · 26/12/2024 19:10

Went up end of Nov and will probably take down on 1st Jan .

zebraplant · 26/12/2024 19:18

Went up on 21st Dec - it'll be taken down on 2nd at the latest - but it's not annoying me atm - so it might last the distance.

HerbertVonDoodlebug · 26/12/2024 19:20

Up on 30 November
Down on 3 January

It’s a real tree and has lasted really well without dropping too many needles - I love it, though our small front room always looks nice and big when it’s gone!

TheFallenMadonna · 26/12/2024 19:21

Up 21 December. Will come down 5 January. I do feel I'm just starting to settle into Christmas.

Roryno · 26/12/2024 19:24

Goes up around the 10th Dec and comes down after the weekend after New Year’s Day, unless it’s after the 6th. This year I’ll probably do it on the 4th.

UndeniablyGenXmasOfAWomblingMerryType · 26/12/2024 19:28

Up on 1st October, took it down on Christmas Eve,

.... just kidding Xmas Grin!
