We've ran out of celebrations. Tragic.

We've ran out of celebrations. Tragic.

Having a last minute guest come to dinner and having to go out the day before Xmas Eve, to buy more supplies.

Actually, do you know what, it’s not minor-it’s a big fucking inconvenience 🤣🤣
Me + Christmas shoppers is NEVER a good mix. I was in a foul mood yesterday

PassAggJumper · 24/12/2024 13:52

My 9 year old has run out of clean pants, which is just a symptom of having so much stuff to do as a single working parent at Christmas time.

Adult son's girlfriend is showing up at "some point today" to exchange gifts which is lovely, but could do with a more exact time period to work with.

One of same adult son's presents hasn't shown up so he can't use his main one. Very annoying.

I am trying to be zen!

Iamacatslave · 24/12/2024 13:54

I had lingual braces fitted 2 weeks ago…. 😬

PrincessHoneysuckle · 24/12/2024 13:56

Not inconvenience more annoyance. We let ds open one preesent today.Spent a lot on sil 3 kids and she's got ds 10 the cheapest pjs you've ever seen, the shiny awful quality material ones for about a fiver like it's a box she's had to tick.

username299 · 24/12/2024 13:57

The recycling wasn't collected on Monday and is sitting on my step outside.

No33 · 24/12/2024 13:57

Olives and goose fat not in the shop!

Bucks fizz swapped for prosecco, but I've no orange juice!

Gliblet · 24/12/2024 14:02

One of DS's presents hasn't arrived. It's not a main present, more of an 'ooh I didn't know they made those' so it definitely fits in the minor annoyance category not in the 'ready? Panic... NOW!' box.

It’s my daughters first Christmas so almost every family member on both sides wants to see her and give her a present, and it absolutely has to be on Christmas day because “thats when Santa comes and we want to share the magic with her” except most of them don’t drive. So we’ll be spending our Christmas morning driving from house to house like a delivery driver to watch my probably overtired 8 month old, who has no idea who Santa is or in fact what Christmas is, chew some wrapping paper and have a cuddle at each house before we can finally go to my parents for the remainder of the day for lunch and to relax and enjoy our day.

We are of course so grateful that there are so many people who love our daughter and want to see her, but driving around all morning isn’t my idea of a relaxing Christmas!

H is out hunting for a pork pie.

Our order which was placed with the butcher who we have bought from every week for over 30 yrs was 'misplaced'. He turned up yesterday, queued for 20 mins and came out empty handed.

He managed to get most of it elsewhere yesterday but is still looking for a particular shape of pork pie.

That would send me over the edge. Glad you've managed to get most sorted.

My bin day was moved. I did get the email but was so busy I didn’t read it and I didn’t think my bins would be affected due to the usual collection day not falling the Christmas bank holidays!

TianasBayou · 24/12/2024 14:12

DH just came home with a bunch of flowers for me but I can't find my favourite vase.
I've arranged them in a large jug.

KnopkaPixie · 24/12/2024 14:14

There’s something wrong with the automatic electric gates on the car park at the back of the block of flats I live in and every time somebody drives in or out it makes a loud metallic screaching noise like a hundred mechanical cats being tortured under my window. It's happening at least once an hour, often quite late at night

It won't get fixed until New Year now but at least my "Merry" neighbour is away this Christmas and won't be ringing my doorbell repeatedly at 2am thinking it's the hallway light switch.

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 24/12/2024 14:16

I'm giggling at the thought of him 'hunting'.

He's probably gone for a pint by now.

I'm cross because we spend a small fortune in that particular shop - familiarity breeds contempt springs to mind.

mitogoshigg · 24/12/2024 14:16

I'm sat here waiting ... going away but dh is still at work and we can't go until 4.15 anyway as collecting dsd. I don't wait well, I'm impatient

romdowa · 24/12/2024 14:17

Poor ds 3 had a burst ear drum this morning , so we had to run around like lunatics to get him seen by a Dr and get antibiotics. Luckily we are all sorted now and he's fast asleep the poor fella

Fireworknight · 24/12/2024 14:17

Both dh and I have the lurgy. Hoping the dc don’t get it. Feeling pretty rough.

NorthernGirlie · 24/12/2024 14:18

I wanted a box of Guinness for my lovely dad. I've been to 6 shops today and can't get any! DH says there's a national shortage - sad times!

No, just no. If people want to see your daughter they come at a time which suits you. Start as you mean to go on or you'll still be driving round houses every Christmas until she leaves home.

Unescorted · 24/12/2024 14:22

I can't fit anymore cardboard into our recycling and the neighbours haven't put their bins out yet. Before you think cheeky fucker.... They get to use the spare room in our general waste bin.

lashy · 24/12/2024 14:23

Forgot to buy a 'baked cheese' dish to go with crusty bread.
Was tonight's plan before movie time.
Crackers with cheddar it is then.

Soccermumamir · 24/12/2024 14:23

The dog next door never gets left alone and neighbour has decided to go out and has left the dog. It has been barking constantly for over an hour. I'm getting really annoyed.

This is actually what we’ve just been saying today. We should have put our foot down but were sort of guilty tripped because lots of these people don’t drive & a few are elderly (our grandparents) and not in great health so if we don’t go to them then they wouldn’t be able to see her. Next year we have agreed we will be saying we are happy to visit before or after Christmas, and door is always open for people to come see us, but we won’t be the delivery driver again!

username299 · 24/12/2024 14:26

And the big wheel of Camembert I was looking forward to had to be thrown away as it tasted of ammonia. (Not that I was trying to tuck into it before the big day 😇).

Andsoitbeganagain · 24/12/2024 14:26

My husband.
