We've ran out of celebrations. Tragic.

Brakes have gone on car and can’t get it fixed till Saturday
As usual, can’t find the third stocking.
Theres something I’ve forgotten, but I can’t remember what. Hey Ho, I’ve had a Black Russian and I don’t care.

Having a last minute guest come to dinner and having to go out the day before Xmas Eve, to buy more supplies.

Actually, do you know what, it’s not minor-it’s a big fucking inconvenience 🤣🤣
Me + Christmas shoppers is NEVER a good mix. I was in a foul mood yesterday

We had that, and his missus was pregnant. They arrived on a bleedin' donkey! I says no. No donkey's in the house, that's my rule, you'll have to stay in the stable. And then, AND THEN, all bleedin' night night there was a procession of farm workers, some with sheep, one one a cow and all sorts (not the liquorice ones either) and then to cap it all three blokes rock up claiming to be Kings!!! Not bloodly likely I says "You can stuff yer myrrh and yer frankinstein where the sun don't shine (but leave the gold) and offs they trot - on their camels.
What a Christmas that was. We laugh about it now.

Brilliant thanks @ClementineChurchill

Xmasfairy86 · 24/12/2024 21:59

Told husband we had goose fat…. Haven’t found it yet

Nothavingfunrightnow · 24/12/2024 22:03

On a funny note. Bought ds1 and ds2 their new xmas eve pjs. Got them out of packaging - which came last month. Ds1s fit great. Bought the size up for ds2 and they're really tight lol He looks funny. It's supposed to be a t shirt and shorts. The shorts look more like cycling shorts and it's in an athletic material. He looks like he's about to do Tour de France 🤣🤣 Everyone has been in hysterics including him. Serves me right buying online. Will get then from the shop next year lol 😆

This made me cry laughing! 😂

@EdithStourton She's a kind of seer or wise woman in her own way. I like her.

I can't fit anymore cardboard into our recycling and the neighbours haven't put their bins out yet. Before you think cheeky fucker.... They get to use the spare room in our general waste bin.

This happened to us a few weeks ago. My BIL had a fire in his garden and burnt it for us. He's doing the same with the wrapping paper In a few days.

The dog next door never gets left alone and neighbour has decided to go out and has left the dog. It has been barking constantly for over an hour. I'm getting really annoyed.

That's every day in my house. Except there are 3 dogs and the are all little happy buggers 😖i feel for you.

I wanted a box of Guinness for my lovely dad. I've been to 6 shops today and can't get any! DH says there's a national shortage - sad times!

Had the same problem today, i managed to get some at the coop but only a 4 pack, hope you managed to get some for your dad

BebbanburgIsMine · 24/12/2024 22:26

I couldn't find J20 Glitterberry anywhere.

Just DD and me, we're not drinkers, and we enjoy J20 at Christmas time.

Oh well, Apple Juice it is then!

ineedtowomanup · 24/12/2024 22:45

@PiperLeo no need to burn it - the council will
Let you put out clear bags with additional card board usually this time of year.

I got some from Waitrose @delphinedupont. 4/5 of the sticker things along the length came off a treat but the biggest top one was stuck to the paper and wrecked it.

I found some at WH Smith that were in cellophane old styley. But I felt slightly guilty about buying it and very dubious about mentioning this on Mumsnet for fear of the judgement Blush

I bought the non cellophane paper last year. Absolute nightmare. So I went back to normal wrapped paper this year. No guilt. Easy wrapping. Bliss. I found a roll from.last year and it had the middle section missing from a huge part of it because I couldn't get it off 😂

My youngest won't fall the fuck asleep despite being in bed for 3 fucking hours.

Samandytimlucypeterolivia · 24/12/2024 22:55

My mums back has her laid up, it’s severe and even at A&E said ther3s nothing they can do, she just has to ride it out. So she’s not super festive right now. Been pushed from pillar to post and no one wants her to have an MRi… other than that everything is pretty much on point.

Been there… I thought this would be me but dd12 was asleep within 15 minutes, so there is light at the end of the tunnel as they get older…

Zwellers · 24/12/2024 23:00

Despite 3 different people trekking to multiple supermarkets, there was no edam to be found in any of them. We are an edamless household. It's the only thing DB asks for at Christmas. Predict wobbly stiff upper lip tomorrow when the news is broken. This will be up there with the year of no pomegranate (aka the year christmas was ruined).

MrsAvocet · 24/12/2024 23:03

I'm on crutches. Everything is taking at least 3 times as long as usual and the rest of the household seem to require continual reminders that that I can't carry anything from the fridge to the kitchen, never mind up and downstairs.Adult DD is coming tomorrow thank goodness.

tobee · 24/12/2024 23:04

Solidarity @PiperLeo ! I always find wrapping presents monumentally stressful anyway, takes much longer than you'd imagine it will, I sit on the floor and it does my back in, I always lose something mid way through, certainly losing the end of the cellotape over and over despite taking precautions. That new way of doing wrapping paper rolls nearly finished me off.

FishPie2 · 24/12/2024 23:10

My husband died.

Our local has run out. Guiness have stopped exporting to protect the home supply. It's the Split the G challenge that is the culprit.

Merrily reading this thread, feeling mightily smug about being 100% sorted. I've forgotten table crackers entirely! I've been reminding myself for weeks to get them! Ffs!

Not quite so smug now 🤣

Bollocks!!!!!! I didn't get any either!!!!!

This is worrying me, now. Please update when he reaches his decision.

He chose one yellow, one orange and one purple carrot 🥕 for variety

RoxytheRexy · 25/12/2024 10:02

My milk frother just broke. We will have to have cold flat milk in our morning coffee.

Though we've had it many years and it gets used loads. And we probably don't clean it often enough
