I have attended many Christmas markets over the years. They are so crowded especially at the moment as German children finished school for the Christmas holidays. Frightening, my prayers are with all the victim's šŸ™

Can you give me one example of where I am racist? What have I said ? Find examples please. I am very interested into how a Saudi Arabian is granted asylum from a country that thousands of expats live in & is a safe country to travel to.

I've explained the difference between Brit ex pats there and ordinary Saudis lives just above. If you can't see the difference then you're woefully uninformed.

cakeorwine · 22/12/2024 08:37

If he was angry at the German Government for the way they treat refugees (in his opinion), do you think that targetting a crowd of German people would fit with someone who wanted to commit a terrorist attack against Germany and its people?

It would absolutely. It would also fit the profile of someone who wanted to attack Christianity at Christmas time.

No. This man was a doctor, an excellent profession so why does he want refugee status? Why not come in via the normal employment route & become a Saudi expat living in Europe, the way thousands of Europeans relocate to Saudi & become European expats living in Saudi?

i expect his employment contract was limited?

Which of those profiles do you think is more likely?
Targetting German people because he was angry at the way he thought Germany was treating refugees

or

Targetting Christians - and I am not sure if you have said why he might have wanted to target Christians

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 08:47

Was he upset because he found Germany allowing the suppression of female rights when he was trying to help Saudi women get there and get to freedom?

katter · 22/12/2024 08:48

Treetops11 · 22/12/2024 08:34

You see that is what doesn't add up.. the man is painted by many outlets as being anti immigration yet he has a website & is actively helping asylum seekers gain refugee status himself. He himself is a refugee...

Edited

It isn't that uncommon among immigrant communities to perceive other immigrants as the "wrong" Kind.
Hence hispanic people voting for Trump for example.
As far as has been reported the attacker holds streng views against muslim immigrants not immigrants per se. (also being an AFD supporter might suggest that)

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 08:50

@cakeorwine I understand the points your making and of course anyone can be at a Christmas Market. But the bottom line is this was an attack on a Christmas Market he could have chosen any day or time in the year and he chose this market.

Are we getting a little immune to all this I wonder?

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 08:52

Immigrants and asylum seekers are not one homogeneous group and I think treating them and other immigrants like that are is one huge problem of the left

I am still unclear why some people are specifically saying it was designed to be an attack on Christians.

Many non Christians would have been at that market.

I don't know what his true motivation was.

Quite possibly both, Germans & Christians gathered together enjoying a peaceful advent in the run up to Christmas.

But why do you think he wanted to target Christians?
I think people have given reasons why he would want to target German people as he seems angry at the way he thinks Germany has treated refugees.

But I'm unclear about why he some people think he wanted to target Christians.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 22/12/2024 09:05

There's a clip on Twitter where he can be heard shouting Allah Akbar during his arrest. Yep, definitely an ex Muslim.

https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/260575/nearly-half-of-2500-anti-christian-hate-crimes-in-europe-were-in-france-report-says

There gave been horrendous attacks on Christians in Europe as of late, in France particularly. This man attacked a Christmas market. Christmas means "mass of Christ".. it absolutely was both an attack on Germans & Christianity devised to spread fear & anguish at Christmas time. He could have picked any other venue or month of the year

Nearly half of anti-Christian hate crimes in Europe were in France

The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination Against Christians in EuropeĀ report said 2,444 anti-Christian hate crimes occurred from 2023 to 2024.

It's been said that it was a crowded event with lots of Germans present and he was angry at the way Germany treated refugees.

What makes you believe he wanted to target Christians specifically?

Cake your questioning the op as though we are in court.

At the moment and it's purely conjecture it seems he wants to punish Germany for being too liberal and enabling the continued persecution of Saudi women in Germany although he is being called unstable and pyscotic.

I am finding your persistent questioning about him targeting this market veering on....

Strange because it is a Christmas market for whatever reason he targeted it.
Why did the Berlin attacker target a Christmas Market??

Surely it's reasonable when someone posts a belief to see what makes them have that belief.

CinnamonClovesBrownVelvet · 22/12/2024 09:16

It's hardly a stretch?
What made the Berlin attacker target the Christmas market?
Why Christmas? Why not another market?
Shops? Festivals?

BadgerInDungarees · 21/12/2024 19:38

Only just predominantly Christian. I'm 'of no religion' like almost 40% of Germany and I've been to my fair share of Christmas markets. My brother who is also a heathen travels to a European Christmas Market every year. I can't see any reason why Germans almost 40% of non religious people wouldn't partake in the tradition.

They will see you as a Christian European even if you say you are atheist. This small distinction is immaterial, you still partake in the customs of your own culture

Shops? Festivals?

Why not an underground?
A bus
A pop concert
A festival on an island

There are many terrorist attacks that have been carried out on public venues where a lot of people are, including Christmas markets.

What makes you think that the motivation for this man was to target Christians rather than targetting the Germen people?
