How much did your Christmas Food Shop Cost

Just that really.

Am cooking for six - Christmas Eve until Boxing Day and am quite chuffed that I’ve got everything in for just under £300 (including booze and nibbles etc)

I feel like this hasn’t changed much in years, even if my usual shopping costs are going through the roof.

So am curious, how much have others spent on the Christmas food shop?

I dread to think. Double what it should have done. Mostly because DH woke me up at 4:30am to tell me that nothing in the fridge was cold and everything in the freezer was defrosting. I want to cry. I think I can save the meat; I’ll just cook it all today and put it in my mum’s fridge. But we had a couple of desserts, ice cream and veg etc which all needs to go, and a fridge full of stuff that feels like it has been on the kitchen worktop all night, so needs to be chucked.

I’m so fucked off, it’s only five years old and a decent brand. The one I had before that was a Beko and 20 years old, still working perfectly. I only got rid of it because the HA had a new kitchen fitted and it didn’t fit anymore.

Oh noooo! The veg should be fine though - it doesn’t really need to go in the fridge. Can you put stuff outside?

How did your DH know this at 4.30am??

Oh I see, you mean frozen veg. Yes that is a pain!

Yeah, frozen veg. I have some very fussy eaters and a tiny kitchen so it’s easier to do the Birdseyes individual portions that need to be streamed, rather than faff around with parsnips etc they won’t eat.

And he was taking his lunch out of the fridge ready to go to work. It wasn’t an out of hours snack expedition 😁

Around £400 from multiple shops. I am done running around now.

Cooking for 5 including our 3 primary aged DCs.
Total was £160, £70 at M&S and £90 at Asda. But we did add on regular shopping bits like toilet roll, shampoo etc..
