How much did your Christmas Food Shop Cost

Just that really.

Am cooking for six - Christmas Eve until Boxing Day and am quite chuffed that I’ve got everything in for just under £300 (including booze and nibbles etc)

I feel like this hasn’t changed much in years, even if my usual shopping costs are going through the roof.

So am curious, how much have others spent on the Christmas food shop?

£220 for me but I have not bought any meat with that as DM is buying it. Only bought 2 boxes of beer for the adult DC which was £24. This is for 4 adults Xmas day, boxing day and the 27th when we have extended family round for DS 21st Birthday. Taking the DC out Xmas eve for food and will also be buying Dominoes for the younger DC on the 27th.

Overthebow · 22/12/2025 19:06

I have no idea, I’ve been stashing nice bits away over the last couple of months when I see them and haven’t kept track of how much it’s cost, and did the meat last week and it’s in the freezer. All the rest will be done tomorrow, I expect to spend around £200 on top of whatever we’ve already spent.

ChronicallyMum · 22/12/2025 19:09

Probably £70ish including alcohol, cheese, crackers, chocolate tubs and desserts for a family of 4, two adults, 2 children.

We didn’t buy our turkey as it was gifted from my mother but that was £15, 2.5kg bacon wrapped turkey crown.

£450odd so far. Still have alcohol, soft drinks and bread sauce to buy. Drinks and nibbles for 20 on Christmas Eve, 8 for Christmas dinner and Boxing Day plus the ‘normal’ meals.
I don’t think it was the meat tbh @DrPrunesqualerI spent over £100 on cheese and nearly £50 on butter and chocolate for baking. Fruit juice and berries cost a bomb too.

MrsSPenguins · 22/12/2025 19:26

Roughly £300 for 4 adults but that will give us food for a lot of the week and includes two lot of cakes from the bakers (2 x brownies, macaroons, mince pies, cinammon buns, Christmas cake, farm shop fruit (6kgs) and veg (sprouts, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, potatoes) and farm shop meat order (Turkey, pigs in blankets, veg pie, Christmas pudding). DS eats industrial quantities of fruit (1kg a day) and DD does lots of sport so also eats a fair amount.

TheChosenTwo · 22/12/2025 19:29

Will be about £1500 all in. Tescos deliver was £600 today, butchers was £350, majestics was £400 and there are a few odds and sods that need getting that I forgot to add to the food shop.
we are hosting a little pre Christmas drinks afternoon on Wednesday and then around 20
for Christmas dinner and an additional 10
in the evening.
So it sounds a lot but actually it goes a long way.

Paperwhite209 · 22/12/2025 19:32

3 of us. Probably in the region of £250 but over a few weeks (Christmas delivery this morning about £150). That's from now until Sunday and includes some household bits, wine and cat food.

HansHolbein · 22/12/2025 19:33

I have no idea.

Christmaseree · 22/12/2025 19:35

£300 for five adults Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day (all M&S) and wine is separate.

Specialagentblond · 22/12/2025 19:43

60 quid booths shop
45 quid Asda shop
£25 turkey joint from m&s
booze is from hampers and gifts and guests are bringing some.

cheese and crackers £35

7 adults 2 teenagers.

total £165

JingleMyBellsChristmasSmells · 22/12/2025 19:50

Not finished yet but up to now:
£91 turkey
£30 gammon
£30 pigs in blankets
£60 wine
So £210 ish, still got to get all of the trimmings and party food. Also need beer, I think it will probably end up around the £400 mark for 4 adults and 4 teenagers.

Deargodletitgo · 18/12/2024 14:59

there's three of us, but it's food for Christmas Eve, the Day and then enough for leftovers (hopefully) - £140, with some extra snacky bits already purchased.

A bit less than this, including wine.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 22/12/2025 19:52

About £400- cooking for 9 Christmas Day. Mix of M&S, Tesco, Costco and Aldi

RH1234 · 22/12/2025 19:54

7 of us. Hosting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Total incl. drinks £600, but will have left over too.

FurForksSake · 22/12/2025 19:55

Which one?

£50 m&s
£150 farmer (turkey, sausage meat, pigs in blankets)
£135 Ocado

it’s only the four of us on the day and that food will last to new year pretty much.

BringBackCatsEyes · 22/12/2025 19:59

Dunno. Ask me tomorrow!

Florencesndzebedee · 22/12/2025 20:00

Around £250 for 3 adults. Includes a goose, a porchetta, nice cheese board and quality chocolates from Leonidas. Two bottles of good wine and a bottle of champagne.

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 22/12/2025 20:04

Should have been £80, we had £35 in vouchers so paid £45.

That's for 3 of us, should see us through until the 28th at least.

IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow · 22/12/2025 20:04

This has really reassured me - thanks all for sharing. Mine for 6 will be in the £300-400 mark which seems similar to other years. I bought alcohol and nibbles in dribs and drabs which has helped.

I don’t believe I’ve gone OTT - it’s my favourite meal of the whole year; I LOVE a roast and BLOODY LOVE a pimped up one and all the leftovers, candles, tree lights and all that jazz! It’s not been the best of years so I’m really looking forward to a good festive season and some lovely food.

Hope you all have a good one too!

thebear1 · 22/12/2025 20:08

£190 but doesn't include actual Christmas dinner as someone else is supplying that. Does include some alcohol. Got it today and will last until Friday. For 4 people plus some of it is for another 4 on other days.

timetogetlost · 22/12/2025 20:17

£100
I spent £40 in Aldi on veg, cheese, nuts.
£60 in Tesco on drinks and treats.
We are just 2 adults and 3 kids.

Pointystickystick · 22/12/2025 20:21

11 people £242, from Ocado.

Catsandcwtches · 22/12/2025 20:23

£160 for the week inc Christmas Day. But there are only two adults on the day and we’re only having roast chicken and a homemade pudding. Wine and beer to drink. Going for a whole turkey didn’t seem worth it.

TheCurious0range · 22/12/2025 20:32

Probably about £300 including wine, but that's for Friday past to Christmas day, then we're visiting relatives for a few days but will take some things with us and there will still be plenty of nice bits when we get back but I'll probably need to shop for actual dinners. There are 8 for Christmas day here.

MerryGuide · 22/12/2025 20:34

About £400, most with 20% discount at one supermarket but also boxing day mains from Cook.
Not even home for xmas day so this is to contribute to that meal, host boxing day plus the in-between days
