I’ve heard good things so far. What do you guys reckon to it?

And yes people clapped at the end of the film, never had that before. I cried.

PiggieWig · 27/11/2024 22:47

Bit long for my liking. I fairly enjoyed it but it’s probably not really my cup of tea. I definitely wasn’t screaming, but people did clap at the end.

—Im a terrible person though. I did think, please don’t let this be the new thing—

I've heard it has 'the hallmarks of a classic' 😇

😂😂😂😂😂

Needmorelego · 27/11/2024 22:59

@PiggieWig I remember the audience clapping at the end of Moulin Rouge - which was 23 years ago.
So it's not a new trend.

It's the old thing. I remember being surprised when it was announced because I thought the trend for making films out of stage musicals had long passed.

Loved it! Visually gorgeous

frenchnoodle · 27/11/2024 23:16

I took the boys but it was far too long for them, we ended up leaving.

I loved it, I'm going again tomorrow. I thought it went really quickly.

Doitrightnow · 27/11/2024 23:34

I love the stage show and enjoyed the film although I thought it could have been 20 mins shorter.

I thought most of the cast was very good.

researchers3 · 27/11/2024 23:37

I absolutely loved it! Couldn't fault it! (Very unlike me!)

AG was really funny in it, brilliant acting and singing all round.

Yes, and it blew my mind! I thought it was outstanding.

The cinema was full and everyone clapped after, never had that happen before!

The man next to me was crying 😆and the GASP when the secret cameo was revealed around the room was amazing (including my own).

OMG I'm not reading any more of this thread! 🙈🙉

I loved it, huge musical fan and Wicked is one of my favourites!

I can't believe people were screaming about the cameo thoughConfused

If you're a huge musicals fan then surely that was just a wow moment? Such a well kept secret as well!

Yes, it was absolutely brilliantly well kept and an amazing surprise.

DanielaDressen · 28/11/2024 09:28

loved it and I don't particularly like film musicals. I didn't think it was too long, time flew. Was amazing sets, I liked the choreography and the singing was fab. I have seen the stage show 20 years ago and I liked the film better. Thankfully no screaming in the performance from anyone. I knew about the cameo appearance beforehand.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/11/2024 09:29

Yes it was very good and a shame when it ended. Good fun!

purplespink · 28/11/2024 09:29

Do you think a 7.5 year old would enjoy it?

username8348 · 28/11/2024 09:29

No but I've seen clips from various interviews with the two main actors and they're quite weird.

SinnerBoy · 28/11/2024 09:31

I'm another one who's not a fan of musicals, but I did enjoy it. I took my 11 year old daughter on Saturday and it was packed, no clapping.

What's the secret cameo thing, btw?

Nooo!! It's a secret cameo thing don't spoil it for those of us who haven't had a chance to go yet 🙈

SinnerBoy · 28/11/2024 09:37

Sorry!

Nobody answer me, please!

Think about who would be obvious people to have cameo roles in it. It’s only ‘secret’ in the sense that their involvement wasn’t generally known about till it premiered.

I'm not a big celebrity follower, so that wouldn't work for me; however, Cosmopolitan was the top search and names 4 people, none of whom were known by me!
