We do a game at Christmas where instead of presents, we do useful gifts in bags for people to win. Things like mango slicers, those cards that double up as ice scrapers, that sort of thing.

Have you bought anything surprisingly useful that you use more than you thought you would that cost under £30 please? I really need some ideas this year!

Sorry to be annoying - just place marking to read tomorrow.

If you hit ‘bookmark’ it saves your place for you and takes you straight back there when you next open the thread.

If you hit ‘bookmark’ it saves your place for you and takes you straight back there when you next open the thread.

Or if you click on the 3 little dots (top right corner of a post), you can click Save.
Youll find all the saved threads under ‘Saved’, top line next to ‘im watching’ etc…

Yes, but you have to post something for it to become a thread "I'm on" - which I prefer to "I'm watching". I tend to keep my watched threads as an archive for future reference, whereas "I'm on" I want to participate in right now.

Not sure it counts but I bought a kitten for £30. Had her 3 years now and we still always joke that she is the best 30 quid we’ve ever spent!

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 10:27

@Walker1178 not to derail but we need a photo!! Also kittens in my area are £150 for a regular cat, which I found surprising

Whattheduck · 24/11/2024 10:46

A rotary cheese grater grates cheese in seconds we had one when I lived at home

Things for the car
Rechargeable tyre inflator,
seat belt cutter/glass smasher,
fire extinguisher.

Just treated myself to rechargeable hand warmers, and an electric blanket. So cozy with recent cold weather

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 11:05

Theses are great

I also 'paid' £30 for a kitten from a cat charity. The money was for neutering/spaying the cat and a tenner of it was returned when we bought the cat carrier back pic for kitty tax of said kitten now 12 years old

Love this, my cat also loves a box which I keep on my bed for him and change as and when I get a new delivery!

I have this system too! Threads I'm watching is my reference threads.

The ones I have are in a case.

(edited - meant to be a reply to someone about the Peeps glasses cleaner but it didn’t reply directly to them - sorry. Bit random now!) 😆

Love this thread!!

I'm not quite sure what having the rim redusted involves, but after a year of fannying about with mine like this (and using said helpful portable tyre inflater) I had the valve replaced and the alloy rims sandblasted. Sorted. (£40 for the sandblasting, £8 for the valve)

I’ve had it blasted twice I wasn’t sure what the word for it is for for some reason I thought it was called dusting Grin

It’s going in for MOT next week so I might ask the guys to replace the valve thank you

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 13:36

@Frieda2024 I think that was me, I was "told off " by the optician for using the pad cleaner glasses thingy , I was pointing out some come as keyring style so can collect detritus !!

A spider catcher. No more trying to catch the little blighter with a glass and a piece of paper while being terrified.

catscatscurrantscurrants · 24/11/2024 13:38

It came from Amazon and is called Katcha.

A heated throw from Costco
A Leighton Denny crystal nail file
An electric neck fan
I'm sure there's more but @Vroomfondleswaistcoat I need to find that neck light for my Christmas List 🎅🏼

If it's any help, this is the one I bought.

Anker power banks. Fast, powerful, hold charge, virtually indestructible.

Lincslady53 · 24/11/2024 17:48

A powerbank. Fast charging. One of the most useful things I have bought recently.

Kentucky83 · 24/11/2024 17:51

The thing that cores and slices apples. Only cheap, got one when DD was a toddler, still use it now and bought them for all the family too
