My 'Following' tab is dead because everyone interesting has left.

My 'For you' tab is full of Elon Musk's prolific blithering and other right wing shit, and AI bots commenting on posts generated by AI bots.

Given Musk's exceptionally prominent role in Trump's new government, is it appropriate for UK politicians to be posting on there? I don't think they'd use Truth Social.

Well he is, because he is boosting everything he posts into everyone’s timelines, isn’t he?

I’ve just opened the ‘for you’ timeline, and 3 of the first 5 posts I can see are his, and two of them are suggesting that the Democrats are trying to falsify election results. I do not follow Elon Musk or engage with what he posts but he is endlessly prolific.

And if your solution to avoiding seeing batshit stuff on your timeline is to block the owner of the website, then that’s not good, is it? It’s like saying ‘oh there’s some great content on Truth Social, obviously you’ll have to try to ignore/block Donald Trump’s stuff, but you know, just try not to engage with it.’

It's hardly 'perceptive'. It's a right-wing publication posting a story with a right-wing agenda/stance. It is exactly what you would expect them to publish, and exactly what you would expect a 'right-wing leaning' poster to use to argue their case - because they simply haven't bothered to look outside their own right-wing echo chamber. It works both ways.

Being well-written (it is generally grammatically correct and coherent), and going into detail, is not synonymous with being accurate and unbiased though. It has an agenda, which is to produce an article that supports the viewpoint of the right-wing because that is who it's audience is. So it has carefully curated it's 'details' to support it's argument - making the facts fit the case. It's telling you what you want to hear/believe. It's conclusion is pure conjecture. It provides no proof or evidence of why left-wingers are choosing to leave - it just descends into sweeping generalisations and name-calling (Fortunately, the Left did not leave New Twitter to do this: they left because they are dull, incurious bigots who hate everyone who disagrees with them).

I think, if people want to complain/criticise the left for failing to properly engage with why people vote right/vote Trump (the people voted for Trump because they are stupid/racist fallacy). Then they can't then turn round and make sweeping statements about "left wing elites" and people leaving twitter because they are "dull, incurious bigots who hate everyone who disagrees with them" at least not without looking like massive hypocrites

It is free to join and free to leave. It has always been toxic since when it was Twitter with cancel culture. I left at that point when I was called a bot by a rather famous left wing academic and tv personality. A bit surreal tbh.
