Republicans have both houses now so will get everything passed

Littlemissgobby · 13/11/2024 19:42

Blimey that now means donald trump controls the white house and both houses.
Which means they can push through everything they wanted and no push back from the Democrats.
A mandate to change america to a place that maybe is not recognisable anymore

What with elon musk and vivek in charge now off getting rid of regulations that includes things that make people safe. It sounds like elon is just gonna start slashing and burning regulations and even the fbi. Especially as elon has been fined his company for not following regulations .
They are arguing republican taking point that it's about saving money but it's actually alot more about getting rid of people in departments which could have a big effect in the future and the regulations that they could get rid off could really affect people's health
I know trump fans will be OK but seriously if u r American or not does this amount of power now with trump scare you?
Plus ultimately now ut defo means Ukraine are fucked

I couldnt Care less about Ukraine. As If they'd be bothered about over here in their day to day lives.
So yrs of Democrats/ pelosi/ woke policies/ Dei . Just get on with governing. Let's see what Trump is made of AGAIN.
He was very gracious Today with Biden as was Joe

As a retired American military officer I can tell you that Ukraine has been fucked from the beginning. Ukraine was never going to win the war. Never. From the very beginning it was a lost cause and at no point has it ever been anything but a lost cause. Even with hundreds of millions of dollars from the US and NATO, they were never going to win without the US putting American boots on the ground against Putin.

So ask yourself, did you really want two nuclear superpowers slugging it out in your backyard? Even tactical nukes can make things...very unpleasant. It's a shame about Ukraine, but not all wars are winnable.

But what about the wider implications of a Putin win and what it means both for Europe, NATO and US interests? Doesn't that make a russia-NATO conflict more rather than less likely?

Well, as a British person, I do give a damn about Ukraine because Russia isn’t gonna just stop at that they will go further. It’s the Bastian to stop them getting into the west. Plus, it also sends signal to China who want to take over Taiwan.

The U.S. is screwed. Trump and Musk will have a massive falling out at some point but the country is still screwed. Run by racist felons with no regard for the Constitution and no empathy for their fellow humans.

user1471453601 · 13/11/2024 20:33

Try this for size. America leaves Ukraine to its own devises. Europe tries, but fails, to protect it. Ukraine falls to Putin.

America really does pull out of NATO. Putin invaded Poland..

What might happen next?

Havalona · 13/11/2024 20:35

Elon Musk is the US leader now. He will decide how the country is run going forward. He has more money than Trump for a start and that brings a lot of power, especially now that he is in the Inner Sanctum.

Keep an eye on him and what HE wants.

dottiehens · 13/11/2024 20:37

No, it doesn’t scare me. Stop with the apocalyptic narratives and let them govern. The mandate is clear and hopefully things will be better for everyone. Stop the hate and division as well.

Littlemissgobby · 13/11/2024 20:38

I have just rang into LBC cross questions and my question was basically what I have written on here and actually I have to say on this occasion I agree with Yazmin Ali Brown because she basically said that yes he’s dangerous but why are we pretending that he’s not because we want to be diplomatic.
They already are trying to get labour to apologise for comments that David Lammy said earlier
well I disagree. You should stand by your comments and say yeah we understand that American democracy voted this president in but that doesn’t mean to say we can’t still have our view points

There is nothing in my post that is showing hate and division. If you want to stop the hate and division I suggest you take that up with the side that have just voted in Donald Trump the most hateful and divisive person out there that’s caused all this rubbish.

There was a similar view from an ex military chief recently. It's a tough one. I have been pro support but his statement on not being winnable was compelling.

It is concerning what that might mean but you have a point

Exactly, it’s the wider implications for Europe if Putin takes Ukraine, he won’t stop there if he does, why would he?

Edingril · 13/11/2024 20:43

People can say what they want and label this however they choose to, if the world is going into WWIII who would I want leading it Donald Trump or Kamala Harris?

The Democrats are to blame for this no one else

Putin will have no reason to stop at Ukraine if he takes it, where else would be ‘a shame’ for him to invade but we’ll let him because ‘oh well’? Is Poland fair game? Hungary? Why not go for Finland if nobody’s really that bothered?

Do not be ridiculous. The biggest haters and intolerant people come from the left. This did not start with Trump. However, many times you want to repeat that. Did you get enough of a message with the elections? Kamala sold herself as not being Trump and guess who got in? The U.K. needs the US more so I would be diplomatic but you are entitled to your views. Just bear in mind you are part of a loud minority.

Well I don’t know if you are American but taken to the fact that over the last few weeks and months I have watched numerous videos interviewing regular Donald Trump supporters. They may be waiting to go and see him speak, I can tell you with 100% certainty that majority of them speaking were thick as anything literally they did not have a clue. It was terrifying to understand that grown people can understand so little about what is out there as a society as a world. It’s so interesting to realise when Donald Trump stated he loved the poorly educated and I know why easily to be manipulated easily to be going into the way a dictator wants well done.

@Littlemissgobby

"Well, as a British person, I do give a damn about Ukraine because Russia isn’t gonna just stop at that they will go further."

So if the US pulls military support from Ukraine (to date they have given $66 billion in military support) as they are entitled to then are you OK with the UK making up the shortfall, for example rather than spending £21 billion extra on the NHS we could spend it on military aid for Ukraine?

Or would you accept British military boots on the ground in Ukraine?

If the answer to either of the above two points is no then it seems somewhat unreasonable to expect the US to pay for a conflict in Europe's backyard that the European nations themselves are unwilling to contribute towards at the same level.

Yes, much better to allow hundreds of thousands of people to be killed and sent to Gulag. Shame no one in the West gives a shit about what is happening now on Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia.

And, believe me, even if Ukraine is occupied the war will not end, it will be another Israel/ Gaza situation. Plus, Poland, former USSR Baltic states, Moldova and potentially Finland will be invaded, too. But of course lets not rock the boat.
