I've been staying off MN for a while but I thought I'd pop back to share this with you. I don't think it's been posted on here yet, apologies if I've missed it.
Allison Pearson, 'journalist' for the Torygraph has kicked up a right storm about two police officers turning up at her house and inviting her to the police station for a voluntary interview about a tweet she posted just over a year ago. She was incandescent with rage about this because they wouldn't divulge which tweet she was being investigated for (it says a lot when you have to ask 'which one?').
In the tweet she posted a photograph of a group of people of colour posing with a flag and accompanied by three police officers. Pearson claimed the police officers were posing with a group of Jew-haters and this was during the time of heightened tensions over the policing of Gaza protests.
The Guardian did a bit of investigating and it turns out the photograph she used was nothing to do with the protests and the police officers weren't even from the Met. They were in fact from GMP and the flag itself clearly had Pakistan written on it. Pearson is said to have deleted the tweet once the 'mistake had been pointed out'.
Shockingly bad journalism to say the least but it doesn't even stop there. The Telegraph are still banging on about it, moaning that 3 major police forces are now involved. Numpties like Boris, Patel and now Badenoch have jumped on the bandwagon and even dullard Elon Musk has stuck his nose in.
Another disgraceful example of how our press try to influence the narrative in this country but no doubt plenty of halfwits will believe the crap they write.
I've attached links to both the Telegraph and the Guardian (for balance lol)
