Damned if you do damned if you don't.
Please don't give up on us yet Prime Minister.
I am keeping faith in the picture I have of you as a man with great intellect, a great work ethic, great skills, great diplomacy with a massive ability to listen and learn. Someone who really does want the best for the UK and holds steady
The picture I have of him is one I gained by reading lots about him, his personal and professional life.
From a previous Green voter who could literally no longer bear to see the ruination of our country by the systematic failures of the previous PM's and took a chance on Labour.
No complaints here.

@SerendipityJane 🤣

I'm appreciative of the recursive nature of people making stuff up about someone making stuff up. (RR thread)

Only because it was mentioned here, I had a quick dekko at that thread.

If it was planted to whip up a pitchfork waving mob, it seems to have fallen on it's arse. Pleased to see a few posters immediately spotting that a man would never face such scrutiny. Presumably based on factual history.

I wonder if the internetisation of society is making it harder for the mainstream media outlets to land their punches so well ? Too many disparate factions, moving too quickly.

DuncinToffee · 16/11/2024 15:54

I think Blossomtoes' tribute act might be back on that thread, keep an eye out.

Zonder · 16/11/2024 16:05

I thought that too @DuncinToffee

Mostly I think he gets slammed for being Keir Starmer.

Exactly. And some posters will find every opportunity. He doesn't have to be a member of a golf club if he doesn't want to, let alone be grateful for being asked.

I've been staying off MN for a while but I thought I'd pop back to share this with you. I don't think it's been posted on here yet, apologies if I've missed it.

Allison Pearson, 'journalist' for the Torygraph has kicked up a right storm about two police officers turning up at her house and inviting her to the police station for a voluntary interview about a tweet she posted just over a year ago. She was incandescent with rage about this because they wouldn't divulge which tweet she was being investigated for (it says a lot when you have to ask 'which one?').

In the tweet she posted a photograph of a group of people of colour posing with a flag and accompanied by three police officers. Pearson claimed the police officers were posing with a group of Jew-haters and this was during the time of heightened tensions over the policing of Gaza protests.

The Guardian did a bit of investigating and it turns out the photograph she used was nothing to do with the protests and the police officers weren't even from the Met. They were in fact from GMP and the flag itself clearly had Pakistan written on it. Pearson is said to have deleted the tweet once the 'mistake had been pointed out'.

Shockingly bad journalism to say the least but it doesn't even stop there. The Telegraph are still banging on about it, moaning that 3 major police forces are now involved. Numpties like Boris, Patel and now Badenoch have jumped on the bandwagon and even dullard Elon Musk has stuck his nose in.

Another disgraceful example of how our press try to influence the narrative in this country but no doubt plenty of halfwits will believe the crap they write.

I've attached links to both the Telegraph and the Guardian (for balance lol)

Elon Musk jumping in without knowing context.

Surely not

SerendipityJane · 16/11/2024 17:42

I thought the whole Alison Pearson tweet farrago descended into farce when it emerged that the police had managed in their wisdom to "question" the wrong "Alison Pearson".

Buttle/Tuttle springs to mind.

At least she survived that mistaken identity with her head intact. Others - not so lucky.

Has much in common with the Mirror website, then. I couldn't even read more than a few sentences of that because I couldn't scroll any further without it pinging back to where I was. That'll be one of the ads, videos or popups on the page.

PickAChew · 16/11/2024 18:33

Just realised that blossom vs biossom is barking up the wrong tree. Sorry for that.

OMG I saw a post the other day by a blossom someone and had to re read as seemed out of character. Then realised it was a different blossom.

Are they impersonating? Or just annoying similar name and a completely different character on more ways than 1?!

PickAChew · 16/11/2024 21:26

There's another poster in that thread with blossom on the end of their name.

PandoraSox · 16/11/2024 22:31

Is it me, or has MN been a bit barking mad the last couple of days?

DuncinToffee · 16/11/2024 22:47

Not just you. I am sticking with a few selective threads for now.

Couple of days? Try years. Doesn't help that I don't believe a word of about 50% of OP's.

That’ll be the same Guardian that had to pull a review of a programme about the Oct 7 atrocity, because it was blatantly antisemitic?

Good choice of source. 👍

Why do so many posters on here read the Guardian? It’s an embarrassment.

Whatever I post. Reliable, deeply researched, beautifully composed and occasionally funny.

I think usually I don’t mind the left right differences on here. But that Reeves thread really pissed me off.

One poster said she effectively made the tea at the BoE. I don’t where to start. Not only is it very sexist and regressive, it’s such a big insult to any professional woman, and shows the posters ignorance of the BoE (I’ve known a few economists who worked there who were always excellent). A real low point - make an argument on what she does or doesn’t, but this sexism is terrible.
