I would presume that anyone who wants to replace St. Kemi, when she's done will want to do so with a clean(ish) pair of hands.
However, the Tory party appear to have engineered a situation (and fans of history are welcome to correct me) unique in the history of politics where it looks impossible to keep your enemies closer. Certainly if I were a bookie, I would eliminate anyone who accepts a role in the shadow cabinet as a leadership contender.
