I see this thread is being discusses as why MN is leftist

I laughed at that one and walked away 😂

itsgettingweird · 01/11/2024 14:57

Saucery I don't have a cat. Nor am I a Labour (only!) supporter

Should I exit stage left?!!!

PandoraSox · 01/11/2024 14:58

Efacsen · 01/11/2024 14:54

It's the politics of camaraderie envy IMO - reminds me of the school-gates/cliques posters in some ways

We must have a lot of lurkers.

Expect it's in quite a few posters I'm Watching lists [shrug]

Willowkins · 01/11/2024 15:37

Well I don't have a cat either 😥 but I am a politics geek.
From what I've seen, there's all sorts on here and the best bit is that most of us are willing to listen and learn from each other. I am probably a this-is-what-I-think-but-we'll-have-to-wait-and-see-how-it-turns-out-in-real-life kind of person.

DuncinToffee · 01/11/2024 15:50

That's what I like to think these threads are about Willowkins, we were united by get the tories out.

I am just going to assume those posters think that Johnson was ambushed by a cake, Truss was misunderstood and Sunak was no Farage Wink]

Not only am I catless (definitely not cat free by choice. Not my own, anyhow) I am far from a politics geek. It is an inescapable part of life, though so I try to keep up to date with what's happening.

Trying to remember when I last voted Labour...

Dyson and Clarkson are producing food for this country and providing employment for people. Why in god’s name are you hanging on to the farm? You could clear your mortgage in a trice.

I'm surprised to hear a farmer defending Clarkson. Farmers I know dislike him - he was very open about exactly why he bought a farm - to avoid IHT!

I couldn’t care less why he bought the farm. He has highlighted the difficulties in our industry and for that he should be commended. You can be as surprised as you like. 🤣

Elodie9 · 01/11/2024 16:21

@PandoraSox Agreed. You can get people arguing for their own point of view but facts are still facts.
Also, this is a lovely chat to be on!

DuncinToffee · 01/11/2024 16:37

Hmm. This could be interesting. Who's getting a peerage? (Spoiler: Not Truss, apparently)

Politico: "Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours list is now being finalised...and could land within a fortnight.

"Labour will produce its own tranche of new peers at the same time"

The Pound is now recovering following the Budget

Savanta Poll says 41% of people support the budget v 27% oppose

This needs to be flagged up to the posters who bang on about commentary outside MN.

Quite right too @BIWI it's an unconscionable slur

PickAChew · 01/11/2024 17:34

Feline side eye. Ouch!

Government is going to meet with representatives from Care Home sector adversely effected by incr in employer NICs

And will discuss with BMA as part of new GP contract negotiations

Really? So you don't think that his stating that he bought the farm just to avoid IHT might be part of what has brought this on farmers? That has really annoyed some of the farmers around here.

And I'm sure you know that Labour have still made allowances for farmers in all of this.

Tell me all about these farmers you know. What kind of farm do they run? I am a farmer and have never discussed Clarkson with anyone except DH. It’s like the vegan threads where every second person has worked in an abattoir or lives next to a farm where they commit acts of unspeakable cruelty.

SerendipityJane · 01/11/2024 18:01

I really haven't any more energy to unpick the bollocks Farage spouts, amplified by the Torygraph

Can anyone wiser explain what the reality is here. Because I can't quite bring myself to believe a word Farage says - if he told me his name was Nigel Farage I'd have to confirm it.

I suspect there is a dictionary in Telegraph Towers that wrongly states "reveals" is a synonym for "claims".

So you think @Zonder is lying that she has friends that are farmers who don't share your views??
