Is your kitchen clean and tidy before you go to bed?

My kitchen is a disaster zone but I will tidy it up and load the dishwasher before bed tonight. I could leave it till the morning but I wouldn’t feel right. Are you the same?!

Nope. If there’s a few dirties in the sink but the dishwasher is on I’m completely relaxed about that. Dishwasher will be emptied first thing and the residual bits slung into it.

Positivenancy · 20/10/2024 19:07

Yes! Every night unless I’m extremely tired or sick. I hate walking into a messy room.

imisscashmere · 20/10/2024 19:07

Dishes clean and surfaces wiped and usually tidied. I don’t feel compelled to sweep the floor every day.

Boxofsockss · 20/10/2024 19:08

Always. I couldn’t stand waking up to a messy kitchen. You never know how your morning will go so I think it’s best to leave as little as possible to do the next day so I can at least have my coffee first in peace.

cantthinkofausernametoadd · 20/10/2024 19:08

Yes. Always.

Candaceowens · 20/10/2024 19:08

Yes, there's nothing worse than getting up in the morning to an untidy kitchen.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 20/10/2024 19:09

Probably 90% of the time. Sometimes I leave baking dishes or pans to soak overnight, and I don't worry about the odd mug or spoon.

WetBandits · 20/10/2024 19:10

Yep, we tidy and clean our kitchen every night! Mostly because we’ve only recently had it done and we are very paranoid about staining the white quartz countertops Grin

I’m quite a tidy cook so I do most of the cleaning up as I go along, though.

MissEloiseBridgerton · 20/10/2024 19:10

I am that annoying person who tidies as I go. There's never any dishes lying waiting to go on the dishwasher. I usually spend 15 mins after tea cleaning up so by the kids bedtime, there's nothing left. I've also got a robot hoover/mop which is a godsend

IfIToldYouThisAboutMe · 20/10/2024 19:10

Yes. However I'm not fussed if our mugs from the evenings cuppa are in the sink. Years ago I wouldn't go to bed with anything in the entire house out of place or a tea spoon the sink.
I would Mop floors before bed every night Dust all skirting and picture rails. :/

Isitfridayyetsophie · 20/10/2024 19:11

Yes always tidy before bed. I hate cooking smells so I don’t want anything lingering, I’d like it all as clean and fresh as possible!

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2024 19:11

Usually, yes. DS sorts the dishwasher and if he hasn't done it for any reason, the stuff to go in is stacked neatly on the side.

spiritgoat · 20/10/2024 19:12

Yeah. It's a tiny kitchen so it gets cluttered really quickly, and I have to make 5 lunchboxes and everyone's breakfast in there in the morning, so it's a ball ache if I have to clear the sides first. I've learned to do future me a favour by just getting it over with at night.

WorkCleanRepeat · 20/10/2024 19:12

Yes all the downstairs rooms are cleaned and tidied before bed (I don't want any potential night time burglars thinking somebody beat them to it)

Fireworkstonight · 20/10/2024 19:12

Oh I am a messy cook! I can’t tidy as I go along. Also I don’t do the floor but I put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe the surfaces, throw the rubbish in the bin and put any food lying around in the fridge.

BondStreet · 20/10/2024 19:13

Yes, spotless. There’s nothing worse than coming downstairs and it’s a tip.

ShillyShallySherbet · 20/10/2024 19:15

Yes unless I’ve had people over for dinner and they’ve left late or slept over, only then will I leave it until the next morning.

JustKeepSwimmingJust · 20/10/2024 19:15

If the dishwasher is full but there’s pans left over, I leave them out and sort in the morning. But always as much as possible in the dishwasher and switched on if necessary

dogcatbird · 20/10/2024 19:15

Mostly not, then again I'm an exhausted sole earner / lone parent without any support so I give myself a bit of a break. It's clean intermittently. That's good enough for me.

Sunshineclouds11 · 20/10/2024 19:16

Always.

I hate coming down in the morning to mess to do.

scandina · 20/10/2024 19:16

Yes! I tidy as I go and I keep it spotless after every meal and every day. I find it soothing and I like to live in calm

TTPDTS · 20/10/2024 19:17

Always! I call it my closing shift!

Can't go to bed unless it's all sorted, feels so peaceful knowing it's done.

JumpstartMondays · 20/10/2024 19:18

Yes, I am the same! It doesn't set me up right for the day if I walk in to get breakfast first thing and it's a total mess, not a clean bowl / spoon / surface etc.

Clean and tidy kitchen (and other rooms for that matter), calm stress-free start to the day.

bluebee17 · 20/10/2024 19:18

Yes always

justasking111 · 20/10/2024 19:19

Pans washed in sink. Everything else in the dishwasher.

I used to lay up on for breakfast when the children were at home.
