Is your kitchen clean and tidy before you go to bed?

My kitchen is a disaster zone but I will tidy it up and load the dishwasher before bed tonight. I could leave it till the morning but I wouldn’t feel right. Are you the same?!

About 50/50.
A bake a loaf of sourdough every other day. I usually clear the kitchen as I need space for shaping the dough before putting it in the fridge overnight. On non-baking days I sometime don't clear everything away until the morning.

VioletCrawleyForever · 20/10/2024 19:56

Mostly (tidy) but not always.

Clean (ish)

MightSoundCrassButItsFactual · 20/10/2024 19:56

we have mould issue also , so a lot of moving things round, airing clothes, washing clothes, and so on happens

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 20/10/2024 19:57

Always clean it before l go to bed, wouldn't relax in bed knowing there were dirty dishes waiting to be done

Fiery30 · 20/10/2024 19:58

Yes always.

FloatyBoaty · 20/10/2024 19:58

About 70% of the time. But I’m a single mum, work very hard, and some nights I just don’t have it in me to stand washing dishes after DS is in bed, so I’ll do them in the morning whilst he’s having his breakfast.

Girasoli · 20/10/2024 20:00

The kitchen is DHs job usually, most days he does it before bed. Some days he leaves it and gets up early in the morning to do it.

(I do the living room)

LoafofSellotape · 20/10/2024 20:02

We tidy after we use the kitchen so it's always tidy. Makes life easier.

I am the opposite to most of you. I like to relax after dinner which I can only do if the floor is clean. So I sweep and set the robot going every evening. I load the dishwasher but anything that needs hand washing waits until the morning.

I'm also someone who celebrates the rare occasion of an empty drying rack.

bows101 · 20/10/2024 20:22

About 50/50. Kitchen is just not my priority & I can happily sleep knowing it's messy. I wish I cared enough to blitz it every night!

ChallengeAnnabel · 20/10/2024 20:41

Nope.
I bundle things in/near the sink and leave stuff in soak. Food away, the side has a microfibre cloth over it but no spray, I do it all first thing, usually while the tea is brewing etc.
You might think it's disgusting but no harm has ever come of it for me!

ohreallythatisveryinteresting · 20/10/2024 20:46

Always clear but DH does all the cooking and we all pitch in to tidy afterwards, when the teenagers are out we miss them doing their jobs. Works well. I do extra stuff like wiping the hob down and the cupboards but that is for my own benefit, no one else would notice

abracadabra1980 · 20/10/2024 20:47

50/50 I prefer tidy but if it isn't it's not a big enough issue for me to get wound up about.

OCaledonia · 20/10/2024 20:54

Rarely is it clear at bedtime, I absolutely love cleaning the kitchen but only in the morning.
If I go to any of my children's houses they give me free rein to clean their kitchens, too.
I also do cleaning for a living and I love it.

Sassybooklover · 20/10/2024 21:01

No. I tidy the kitchen after we have finished our evening meal, loaded the dishwasher and fed our cat. Before bed, I unload the dishwasher/put it all away and pop anything we have used since dinner into the dishwasher. All my surfaces are clean and tidy. I can't go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink etc!

Bullaun · 20/10/2024 21:04

No.

custardcreamsies · 20/10/2024 21:06

Yes because I know future me will thank me for it,

BitOutOfPractice · 20/10/2024 21:06

Romeiswheretheheartis · 20/10/2024 19:09

Probably 90% of the time. Sometimes I leave baking dishes or pans to soak overnight, and I don't worry about the odd mug or spoon.

This. I like it clean and tidy but I don’t stress if it’s not.

Motherrr · 20/10/2024 21:07

No not always. Before kids I always had it nice (and still do prefer it that way, much nicer to wake up to a clean Kitchen) but sometimes just too tired to care now..

WillowtreeHouse · 20/10/2024 21:10

99% of the time yes. I hate coming downstairs to dirty dishes and cooking smells from the night before.

TicTac80 · 20/10/2024 21:12

i clean/tidy kitchen before I go to bed. I hate coming down in the morning to a mess and my kitchen is small. I and clean/tidy as I go along so there’s less hassle and mess.

sugarandplum · 20/10/2024 21:18

Yes, without fail. I can't leave it. I had a somewhat chaotic upbringing and this is a coping strategy which I use to manage disordered thinking.

Mnetcurious · 20/10/2024 21:22

Nope. We clear all the dirty plates etc away after dinner but anything that doesn’t go in the dishwasher or can’t fit in is left next to the sink to be washed up/fitted in the dishwasher another time. I don’t always bother to clean down the surfaces either as I’m an ‘all or nothing’ cleaner so if I started I’d have to make the whole kitchen spick and span. (Obviously I would clean up a big spillage or similar on the worktop). There’s so much going on one way or another in the evenings, then I want a bit of time to relax before bed, a clean kitchen is not my priority every evening.

Thevelvelletes · 20/10/2024 21:27

Tidy kitchen..I clean as I go when cooking and just plate's, cutlery to wash up

bifurCAT · 20/10/2024 21:30

DelurkingAJ · 20/10/2024 19:07

Nope. If there’s a few dirties in the sink but the dishwasher is on I’m completely relaxed about that. Dishwasher will be emptied first thing and the residual bits slung into it.

This. Usually stuff left soaking if dishwasher is full.
